Our Prediction Tip

France will win this match.

France are unbeaten in their last four matches against Germany, but the last two have ended in draws. In total, France have won 13 of their 30 meetings compared to ten German wins. Prior to the goalless draw in Munich last time out, their most recent meeting was a friendly in November last year. Alexandre Lacazette twice put France in front in that game, but first Timo Werner and then, deep in stoppage time, Lars Stindl, ensured it finished 2-2.

FRA vs GER Betting Tips

Germany were in woeful form against the Netherlands, even if France were hardly setting the world alight with their late show against Iceland either.

The world champions could not break Germany down last time, but the players are fully back after the World Cup – fatigue and lack of freshness should no longer be an excuse.

That will play into the hands of France’s superb front men – whichever combination Didier Deschamps picks (and it is likely to be the World Cup quartet).

Jerome Boateng’s injury further hampers the visitors’ defence, while at the other end Timo Werner has not lived up to the promising start he made early in his Germany career.

On home soil too, France really should be following the Dutch lead and winning this game. The Dutch did it to nil too, and there is no reason France could not do the same - even with a potentially makeshift defence.

Germany vs France Recommended bets with odds

World champions France are odds-on favourites to beat out-of-sorts Germany, with Betfair and Bet365 both offering 3/4 on the hosts.

Germany lacked too much against the Netherlands, and a France win to nil will return a best price of 23/10. You can also bet against both teams to score at 23/20 with Ladbrokes.

Antoine Griezmann, who takes set pieces, is 6/4 with Betway to score at any time, but Kylian Mbappe continued his form last time out. The PSG forward is 33/20 - the best price - to score at any time with 888sport.

France vs Germany Prediction

France can take advantage of Germany’s poor, poor form and lack of confidence.

Correct Score Prediction: France 2-0 Germany

France Team News

France had injury concerns ahead of the friendly with Iceland, with Nabil Fekir withdrawing from the squad and Corentin Tolisso, Samuel Umtiti and Benjamin Mendy not even selected. Hugo Lloris returned to the side last time out, while Kurt Zouma – a surprise inclusion in the squad – was a second-half substitute. Didier Deschamps will likely revert to his World Cup winning line-up – sans Umtiti –  this time out, however.

France Key Players

Kylian Mbappe – One of the stars of the World Cup, Mbappe continued his good form as he kept his cool from the penalty spot to equaliser against Iceland last time out.
Antoine Griezmann – Another of France’s attacking stars, the Atletico Madrid forward claimed the Bronze Ball at the World Cup.
Paul Pogba – Enigmatic Manchester United man, who has been far more consistent at international level than at club level.

France Team Form

Since beating Croatia 4-2 in the World Cup final, France have drawn two of their next three matches. A goalless draw with Germany kicked off their UEFA Nations League campaign, before they beat the Netherlands 2-1 courtesy of Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud’s goals. Last time out, in a friendly in Guingamp, France were trailing 2-0 to Iceland until a late own goal and an even later penalty – converted by Kylian Mbappe – snatched a draw and stretched France’s unbeaten run.

France Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-2-3-1

Germany Team News

Jerome Boateng has been ruled out of the game against France, joining a long list of withdrawals that also includes Kevin Trapp, Antonio Rudiger, Kai Havertz and Marco Reus. Ilkay Gundogan was already not selected too. Emre Can was one of the players called up as a reserve, while Mark Uth made his international debut up front. Leroy Sane was only a substitute on his return to the squad, and missed a late chance, but the winger could be in line to start against Germany.

Germany Key Players

Manuel Neuer – If the German defence continues to under-perform, their captain and goalkeeper is going to need to be on top form in goal.
Toni Kroos – Real Madrid’s Champions League goalscorer will be bidding to control the tempo in the middle against Pogba and Kante.
Leroy Sane – The Manchester City winger and PFA Young Player of the Year was in superb form for his club last year and was a shock omission from the World Cup squad.

Germany Team Form

Germany have now lost three of their last six matches, winning just two. Since the World Cup, they have drawn with France – a goalless draw in Munich – and beat Peru 2-1, as Julian Brandt and Nico Schulz score in a comeback win. Any hopes that those results were showing the shoots of recovery were wiped out when they crashed to a 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League last time out, however.

Germany Predicted Starting Line up

Expecetd Line up: 4-2-3-1

Both sides suffered surprise results last time out, as France needed two late goals to come from 2-0 down and draw with Iceland, while Germany were swept aside by the Netherlands. There is no doubt who is favourites for this, however, with the world champions unbeaten since March and Germany in worrying form.
France are unbeaten in their last 14 matches in all competitions, winning ten of those.
