Everton will win this match.
Everton and Cardiff have identical records in this fixture – 13 wins apiece and nine draws. Their two meetings in Cardiff’s only previous stint in the Premier League are the first matches they had played against each other since 1979, however. They drew the first in Cardiff 0-0, before Seamus Coleman’s last-minute winner earned Everton a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture, back in March 2014.

Everton go into this match on the back of three straight home wins, while Cardiff are searching for their first win away from home. It does not bode well for the visitors.
The Toffees should beat struggling Cardiff and will hope to do so as comfortably as some of their biggest rivals have – particularly given the Bluebirds have scored just twice away from home this season.
On home soil, they beat Brighton last time out as Callum Paterson continued his goalscoring form since being moved up front.
But they remain unconvincing going forward and Everton have invested heavily in shoring up their defence this season.
At the other end, Gylfi Sigurdsson will obviously be a big loss but they do have Richarlison in top – six goals so far this season, including two in the last home game.
Everton have hit their stride under Marco Silva in recent weeks, however – not least at home – and should go into this game full of confidence.
With or without Sigurdsson, the Toffees have the firepower and the creativity to beat 18th-placed Cardiff as they look to close in on the teams above them.
Cardiff improved in late October/early November, but they still have a huge task ahead of them if they are to put together the results they need to stay up.
Everton are odds-on favourites to continue their recent Goodison Park and beat Cardiff, with 10Bet offering 3/7 on a home win.
The Bluebirds have struggled for goals away from home, and an Everton win to nil is 5/4 with Ladbrokes.
You can also bet against both teams to score at 4/5 with Ladbrokes and Betfair.
In the absence of Gylfi Sigurdsson, Richarlison is favourite to score at any time and add to his six goals so far this season – the Brazilian can be backed at 5/4 with Ladbrokes.
Cardiff’s search for an away win this season will not get any easier when they meet an Everton side in impressive form at Goodison Park.
Gylfi Sigurdsson was forced to withdraw from international duty after a bruising tackle from Jorginho in Everton’s last match. The Icelandic playmaker is a big doubt for the Cardiff game. Andre Gomes (bruised leg) and Ademola Lookman (knock) also face late fitness tests. Yerry Mina made his first start with Kurt Zouma ineligible against his parent club last time out. The clean sheet may make it difficult to drop the Colombian.
Richarlison – The Brazilian’s double against Brighton in Everton’s last home game took him to six goals for the season.
Theo Walcott – Three goals so far for the winger and he is also one of several players with two assists.
Bernard – With Gylfi Sigurdsson a doubt, this could be a chance for the Brazilian summer signing to step things up a few notches and prove his own worth.
Everton have won three of their last five matches and held unbeaten Chelsea to a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge last time out. Their only defeat in the last five games was away to Manchester United, when Gylfi Sigurdsson’s penalty was too little, too late. They bounced back at home to Brighton, however, courtesy of a Richarlison double and Seamus Coleman’s goal in a 3-1 win. And that was followed by the goalless draw at Stamford Bridge last time out.
Jazz Richards remains sidelined with a hamstring strain, while Kenneth Zohore is also out with a calf strain and Sean Morrison is being assessed for concussion. The latter has not been fully ruled out, however, which means the Bluebirds could stick with the team that beat Brighton last time out – including Callum Paterson continuing up front thanks to his goalscoring form.
Callum Paterson – Moved up front and has responded with three goals in Cardiff’s last four games.
Sol Bamba – The big defender has now scored twice this season, but his last-minute winner against Brighton could prove vitally important.
Aron Gunnarsson – The Icelandic captain’s return has coincided with Cardiff’s upturn in form – he is a vital cog in the middle of midfield.
Cardiff earned their first two wins of the season, 4-2 at home to Fulham and 2-1 at home to Brighton – their most recent game – but lost 4-1 away to Liverpool and 1-0 at home to Leicester City in between. Josh Murphy, Bobby Reid, Callum Paterson and Kadeem Harris netted against Fulham, and Paterson added to his tally with the one against Liverpool. Last time out, the Scot was at it again before Sol Bamba won it in the final minute against the ten-man Seagulls.
