Crystal Palace vs Newcastle Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Crystal Palace are at 10/11, a draw is at 23/10, and Newcastle are at 17/5.

Crystal Palace come into this match with definite glances over their shoulder intermittently.  It's been a while since they won.  In fact, they have only two points in their last five PL games and have none to show in the last three.  That has them in 14th as thing sit, with them on 30 points.  That is six above West Ham right now, and it may be enough to get them over the line, but it will not be if they continue this downward trajectory.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are not in much better positioning.  They are a point and a spot above Palace, in 13th and on 31, but they have had their own problems recently.  They have one win in their last five, but they have just two points from their last three games.  It’s better than Palace’s run, sure, but it is still far from bringing them safety as of yet.  Injuries have been a major concern for them, but the table does not care about that and will punish you regardless.

Palace’s home record so far has been poor for their standards.  In 13 outings, they have collected just 16 points via four wins and four draws.  In their last five, they have only a single victory.  In their last three, they have just a point to show from their efforts.  The Magpies’ away record has been little better.  They have 11 points from three wins and two draws in 13 outings thus far.  In their last five, they have really fallen on hard times, with only two points coming for them.  Someone has to earn a point at least, right?  Surely?

Ladbrokes have no for both sides scoring at 2/3.

Betfair have less than 1.5 total goals at 2.75 odds.

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle Match Prediction

Both teams are seriously struggling right now, so much so that a draw might be welcomed by each.  It’s not the most positive statement, but you wouldn’t be shocked if they were content with it.

Correct Score Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-0 Newcastle

Crystal Palace Team News

Roy Hodgson will be missing out on the services of James Tomkins, Mamadou Sakho, and Jeff Schlupp due to injuries.  Two men are in a race to be fit, with Cenk Tosun and Martin Kelly considering possible inclusions.

Crystal Palace Key Man

It has been a long time since Christian Benteke was viewed as a major threat, but at least he finally scored a goal again at Everton, even if it was in a loss.  The Belgian used to be an ever present danger, but times have changed.  They will hope he can roll back the clock a bit more here.  Out wide, they will also cross their fingers that Wilf Zaha is coming back into form after he set up the goal for the big Belgian.  He’s had a tough season, but he’s still capable of being their best player by far.

Crystal Palace Team Form

Crystal Palace have three losses and two draws in their last five matches:

3-1 loss at Everton
0-1 home loss vs Sheffield United
0-2 home loss vs Southampton
2-2 draw at Manchester City
1-1 home draw vs Arsenal

Crystal Palace Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line-up: 4-5-1

Newcastle Team News

Steve Bruce continues to have a ridiculously long list of injuries.  Those that will miss out include the likes of Emil Krafth, Jonjo Shelvey, Ciaran Clark, Jack Colback, Paul Dummett, Andy Carroll, and Jetro Willems.  Those that are possibilities to feature but not guaranteed include Joelinton, Javi Manqullo, and Christian Atsu.  The first two appear to have the better shot.  Yoshi Muto is ready to be selected, should the manager call upon him.

Newcastle Key Man

Newcastle took a bad loss last time out, and they will very much be keen on avoiding that here.  Nabil Bentaleb in the middle of the park can have a large say.  He’s got a lot of quality, even if he has a fiery temperament, and he could swing the outcome on either end of the pitch.  Up front, Joelinton is facing yet another battle to be fit.  He’s not scored many goals for them, but he’s been up front and leading the line when they have played well and gotten results, so they will cross their fingers they will have him available again.

Newcastle Team Form

Newcastle have a loss, a win, and three draws in their last five matches:

4-0 loss at Arsenal
2-3 extra win at Oxford (FA Cup)
0-0 home draw vs Norwich
0-0 home draw vs Oxford (FA Cup)
2-2 draw at Everton

Newcastle Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line-up: 5-4-1

This is bound to be a very close tie. Neither team can seem to find a route forward to goal, and on top of that, neither have managed to score more than once in the last six head-to-head battles. That makes this one look like it could be a Great War-esque slog. It will not be ugly, and in the end, you can't expect to see too many goals fly in. Of course, that probably means it'll be a seven-goal classic, doesn't it?
Dating back to 2016, a run of six PL matches now, neither side have managed more than a goal in a single outing
