COL vs CHI Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Colombia are at +105 to win, a draw is at +230, and a Chile win is at +260.

Colombia come into this match in a rich vein of form, as they are the only team to gone three games without a loss or draw so far.  It may not seem like much, but it shows they have a bit of mettle to them, and they could well be the favorites, despite what many may believe.  With that being said, now’s the time to prove it, and it will not be the easiest match here.  In their last five games, they have not conceded a goal, so that helps.  Overall, their past year includes ten wins, a draw, a penalty loss, and one other loss.

Chile come into this match after finishing Group C as the second place side, having given up a goal in the final ten minutes of the match when they would have went through as group winners with a draw.  Unfortunately for them, they were unable to hold off Uruguay and now face a tougher task against Colombia.  They had been looking better, as if they had bounced back from their wobbles of the last few years, but they were wins against teams that ended up being eliminated.  In their last year, they have five wins, two draws, and four losses.

Ladbrokes have no for both sides scoring at 8/11.

Colombia to score first, via Betfair, is at 1.72.

Colombia vs Chile Prediction

Chile have taken the last two Copa America titles, but they don’t look like they will be capable of taking this one home.  They just have to evolve, and they have failed to do enough recently, leading to their elimination here.

Corect Score Prediction: Colombia 2-0 Chile

Colombia Team News

Carlos Queiroz has no injuries or suspensions to worry about here, but Andres Uribe, Cristian Borja, Jhon Bonilla, Falcao, Duvan Zapata, Jefferson Lerma, and Juan Cuadrado will have to be careful to not get a second yellow card in the competition.

Colombia Key Man

The form of James Rodriguez in this tournament has really been something else, and it just goes to show that he is truly one of the top players… when he’s in a yellow jersey.  The pass he made with the outside of his boot alone would be worthy of paying admission to see him play, and he’ll be a tough player to stop here for the opposition.  Going forward, there are few strikers in the world that are as hot as Duvan Zapata right now.  He’s so much on fire, in fact, that he’s been displacing Radamel Falcao, a mainstay for years, in the team.  Look for him to get another shot here, and that doesn’t bode well for other teams.

Colombia Team Form

Colombia have won each of their last five matches:

1-0 win vs Paraguay
1-0 win vs Qatar
0-2 win vs Argentina
0-3 win at Peru (Fri)
3-0 home win vs Panama (Fri)

Colombia Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

Chile Team News

Jose Letelier has major fitness concerns over Arturo Vidal, so that is sure to be a big part of his team selection here.  Oscar Opazo, Mauricio Isla, Gabriel Arias, Jean Beausejour, and the aforementioned Vidal are all on yellows and will have to toe the disciplinary line as a result.

Chile Key Man

Much of Colombia’s success has been due to a strong defence, and that means the task of breaking them down will be a very tough one.  That’s the job of Alexis Sanchez, who has looked reinvigorated for country.  While he may well be, he’s going to have to be a notch above that to get them over the line again in this tournament.  Vidal is the other man to keep a watch on here.  If he can’t play- or play at his best if he does- then they don’t have much of a chance.  Sure, he’s not able to carry the same pace as the days of old, but his passion and experience can be a massive boon for them here.

Chile Team Form

Chile have a loss, three wins, and a draw in their last five matches:

0-1 loss vs Uruguay
1-2 win vs Ecuador
0-4 win vs Japan
2-1 home win vs Haiti (Fri)
1-1 draw at USA (Fri)

Chile Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

So far, Colombia have looked like the most complete team in the tournament. They have looked good in both attack and defence, and their midfield also appears to be very much settled. On top of that, their depth has been impressive, as was shown in their group finale victory. Chile are a good side, but they have too many miles on their wheels on this point. That costs them as Colombia finally beat them again and oust them from the tourney.
Colombia are the only team in the tournament to have won all three of their matches so far.
