CHI vs URU Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Chile are at 12/5 to win, a draw is at 23/10, and a Uruguay win is at 23/20.

- Top two teams from each group advance to quarterfinals.  Two best third-place teams also progress.

Group C comes down to this, the final match day, on Monday night.  Chile are in pole position with six points to their names.  The good news is that they have progressed.  But they still need a point here to ensure they win the group.  Should Uruguay get a win, they would finish on top, with Chile in second.  A Uruguay loss opens up the possibility of Japan jumping over them, though it would take a significant goal difference swing to accomplish that.

Chile have had some worries in the past couple of years.  They didn’t make it to the World Cup in Russia last year, and they had seemingly fallen apart due to having no legs underneath them.  They continue to rely upon stars of yesterday, but the truth is that they are usually good enough to take down average teams, and that has helped them so far in the group.  In the last year, they have five wins, two draws, and three losses overall, with none of the losses coming since a defeat to Mexico back in March.

Uruguay enter this match in pretty rich form.  Over the course of the last year, they have seven wins, a draw, and five losses, which doesn’t look the best.  But since losing four in a row, their second in a few months to France, they have rattled off four wins and a draw.  This is a complete side, and though you could argue it’s perhaps getting too old, the draw with Japan is still a surprise to say the least, seeing as how Japan don’t even have their top stars, most of them at least, at the tournament.

Both teams scoring, via Betfair, is at 1.9.

Uruguay winning at both halves is at 13/5 at Ladbrokes.

Chile vs Uruguay Prediction

Things might not be quite as bleak for Chile as they might have appeared prior to the tournament, but they still have some kinks to work out.  Their record in this competition against Uruguay has been good so far, but it comes to an end here.

Correct Score Prediction: Chile 1-2 Uruguay

Chile Team News

Jose Letelier will look to lead his side to third victory in a row and will be able to do so with a fully healthy team, by the looks of things.  Right back Mauricio Isla, goalkeeper Gabriel Arias, left back Jean Beausejour, and midfielder Arturo Vidal join Oscar Opazo as those on yellow cards so far.

Chile Key Man

Two goals in two matches now in the tourney will have Alexis Sanchez feeling a whole lot better about himself.  The Manchester United man was barely able to muster that in the club season, so his form here has been downright impressive and even included an assist in the win over Japan.  They need him to keep turning back the clock to have a chance.  On the opposite wing, they will hope that Jose Fuenzalida can keep up his form.  The winger scored a fantastic strike after a corner was half cleared on Friday, and they’ll hope he can take a bit of pressure of the veterans moving on.

Chile Team Form

Chile have three wins, a draw, and a loss in their last five matches:

1-2 win vs Ecuador
0-4 win vs Japan
2-1 home win vs Haiti (Fri)
1-1 draw at USA (Fri)
3-1 loss at Mexico (Fri)

Chile Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

Uruguay Team News

Oscar Tabarez saw left back Diego Laxalt pick up an injury in the draw with Japan, so he is very likely to miss out here as a result of that.  He joins center midfielder Matias Vecino, who is no longer going to play a role in the competition.  Apart from that, there are some issues to work out on the training ground after the result but that shouldn’t affect team selection too much.  Nicolas Lodeiro and Jose Gimenez are both on yellows, so they will need to mind their discipline here.

Uruguay Key Man

For the second game in a row, the brilliance and play making ability of Nicolas Lodeiro came into play for Uruguay as they grinded out a point against a pesky Japan side.  His assist to Jose Gimenez meant they earned a point and are still well in control of the group despite needing to improve.  Up front, Luis Suarez will lead the way.  He scored yet again, this time from the spot, against the guests and he will be a massive threat, as he always is, to score against Chile in this fixture.

Uruguay Team Form

Uruguay have a draw and four wins in their last five matches:

2-2 draw vs Japan
4-0 win vs Ecuador
3-0 home win vs Panama (Fri)
0-4 win vs Thailand (Fri Cup)
3-0 win vs Uzbekistan (Fri Cup)

Uruguay Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

Chile look like they could be headed for a group win here, as long as they can get a result in this match that is. However, they are much like their opponents. Uruguay and Chile share the same problem: the fact that each are relying on aging stars. This is a major issue for both teams, and it will be more than interesting to see how they each handle it. With that being said, you have to like Uruguay's chances here. They are more clinical and better defensively and can just about do it, if either do.
Chile haven't lost any of the last three Copa America matches against Uruguay in normal time.
