Norwich last beat Chelsea, in any competition, in December 1994. This season, in their first Premier League meeting of Norwich’s brief return to the top flight, Todd Cantwell and Teemu Pukki cancelled out goals from first Tammy Abraham and then Mason Mount, but Abraham scored the winner after the break.
Norwich City looked so promising in the Championship last season, but their immediate return has been confirmed already.
The Canaries’ 4-0 defeat to West Ham last time out summed up their defensive troubles and also their own lack of goals at the other end.
They have lost their last eight matches and scored in just two of those matches. Teemu Pukki’s goals have dried up completely – he last scored in January.
Chelsea also come into this game on the back of a bad defeat, losing 3-0 at Sheffield United, but they had won seven of the previous eight before that.
Olivier Giroud found some goalscoring form, opening the scoring against both Watford and Crystal Palace.
They clearly have defensive issues to resolve, having lost to West Ham – conceding three then too – recently, but in attack there should be less cause for concern.
And with Norwich City not scoring – and conceding plenty – it is Chelsea’s attacking form that is the more pertinent stat.
Frank Lampard’s side suffered a big blow last time out, but they can bounce back immediately and get back to winning ways before their FA Cup semi-final.

Norwich have only scored in two of their last eight matches – all of which have been defeats.

Olivier Giroud may earn a recall and, if he does, the Frenchman is 4/5 to score at any time with Betway.
Chelsea were disappointing last time out, and relegated Norwich could be set for a backlash at Stamford Bridge.
Olivier Giroud should feel hard done by after dropping to the bench on Saturday. He could return for this one, but N’Golo Kante is unlikely to be risked with one eye on Sunday’s FA Cup meeting with Manchester United.

Willian – The Brazilian has been in good form since lockdown, taking his tally to nine goals in the league this season and providing some assists too.
Christian Pulisic – The American superstar has been in encouraging form since lockdown as he looks for a consistent end to his debut Premier League season.
Chelsea were dealt a huge blow last time out, suffering a 3-0 defeat away to Sheffield United. It was their second loss in four games, after they had initially bounced back from a 3-2 defeat at West Ham with a 3-0 win at home to Watford and 3-2 victory at Crystal Palace. Olivier Giroud opened the scoring in both games, while Willian and Ross Barkley scored at home to Watford. Away at Palace, Christian Pulisic and Tammy Abraham scored the other two goals.
Todd Cantwell is among the players who can come into the team, as could Kenny McLean, after both were substitutes in a heavy 4-0 defeat to West Ham last time out. Christoph Zimmermann could be closing in on fitness.
Teemu Pukki – The Finnish striker’s fine goalscoring start to the season did not last, but he still tops the scoring charts with 11 goals in 34 matches.
Todd Cantwell – The young English winger has impressed in his breakthrough season, and has six league goals to his name too.
Timm Klose – A frustrating season due to injury and then Norwich’s lack of form, he will want to end on a high note as he leads the defence against an in-form Chelsea attack.
Norwich City have lost their last eight matches in all competitions, with their relegation confirmed with a 4-0 defeat to West Ham United last time out. Emiliano Buendia opened the scoring in a 2-1 defeat to Watford in the previous games, but they were also goalless in a 1-0 loss at home to Brighton and 4-0 defeat to Arsenal.
