Burnley vs Tottenham Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Burnley are at 9/5, a draw is at 12/5, and Tottenham are at 29/20.

Burnley will come into this match on the back of some fine form of late.  Sure, they did draw in a bit of a bore at Newcastle last weekend, but in doing so they remained unbeaten over their last five.  In that run, they have three wins and two draws, giving them 11 points.  On form, they are second, only behind Liverpool, so that is saying something.  As things sit, they are in ninth on 38 points, just four off Manchester United’s pace.  Could Europa or even Champions League football, as unlikely as it seems, wait?

Tottenham, on the other hand, will come into this match in a bit of a wounded state.  They are two spots and two points above the Clarets, but they have lost consecutive PL matches now.  That has left them in a rut, and with what they did in midweek in the FA Cup, they still clearly have a ton of work to do, especially with their two main attacking threats out injured.  If Mourinho can deliver them Champions League football from here, it may well and truly be his best-ever managerial job.

The Clarets’ home record this term can be described as feast or famine.  They have seven wins, a draw, and six losses in 14 matches.  So, it’s usually all or nothing for them.  In their last three at home, they have seven points, including a win over Leicester and a draw to Arsenal.  As for Spurs, they have a very pedestrian away record this term.  They have just three wins and 14 points from 14 games so far.  They have only one win in the last five and have seven points in that same run.

Betfair have Burnley scoring first at 2.1.

Ladbrokes have Wood scoring anytime at 3/2.

Burnley vs Tottenham Prediction

Burnley will make this match as uncomfortable as they possibly can for Spurs, and that will not bode well for the reeling visitors.  The Clarets come away with three points to make people continue to wonder if they can somehow make European football.

Correct Score Prediction: Burnley 1-0 Tottenham

Burnley Team News

Sean Dyche will be without Johann Gudmundsson, Matt Lowton, and Ben Gibson due to injuries for this clash with Spurs.  Ashley Barnes is recovering well from his groin surgery, but there is a low probability he will be able to go in time for this affair.

Burnley Key Man

Vydra carried the water for the Clarets in his absence, but they will be glad that Chris Wood looks fully fit again.  The Kiwi striker has been instrumental for them thus far, scoring ten times.  He didn’t get one to rescue a win at Newcastle last time out, but he may make up for it here at home.  If he can’t do so, then Dwight McNeil is a player that could unlock the Spurs back line.  Often overlooked, the wide man has played well of late and has five assists to his name to go along with two goals so far.

Burnley Team Form

Burnley have two draws, two wins, and a loss in their last five matches:

0-0 draw at Newcastle
3-0 win at Bournemouth
1-2 win at Southampton
0-0 home draw vs Arsenal
1-2 loss at Norwich (FA Cup)

Burnley Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

Tottenham Team News

Jose Mourinho remains without Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min, as well as Moussa Sissoko.  Hugo Lloris, Juan Foyth, and Ryan Sessegnon have all been battling fitness and injury woes, but they might be passed fit to feature.  Victor Wanyama, meanwhile, has left for pastures anew in the form of MLS’ Montreal Impact.

Tottenham Key Man

It is very difficult to see where Spurs are going to get their goals right now.  One potential source certainly has to be Dele Alli.  The Englishman has been deployed as a striker of late, and though he has not had much success, it is hard to see who else offers them much of an avenue for goals.  Steve Bergwijn is another to keep a watch on, though he has slowed following a dream start to life at the club.  The Dutch winger is very capable, but potential alone is not enough for Spurs to end this woeful run.

Tottenham Team Form

Tottenham have a draw, three losses, and a win in their last five matches:

1-1 home draw, penalty loss vs Norwich (FA Cup)
2-3 home loss vs Wolves
2-1 loss at Chelsea
0-1 home loss vs RB Leipzig (UCL)
2-3 win at Aston Villa

Tottenham Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-2-3-1

Burnley have not enjoyed a ton of success against Spurs of late, but they did get the win last term at this very same ground. And you couldn't really count them out here, either, could you? They recently saw off Leicester, and they will encounter a Spurs side that are walking wounded here. No one smells blood in the water like Sean Dyche does, and you can believe he will be out to poke, prod, and bother Spurs any way he can. In the end, the Clarets can squeak one out.
Burnley have won just once in the last 11 against Spurs, though the one time was the last time they welcomed them to Turf Moor.
