Brighton vs Watford Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Brighton are at evens, a draw is at 5/2, and Watford are at 13/5.

Brighton will start round 26 in 15th place in the table.  That gives them 26 points, placing them just two ahead of West Ham who are 18th.  That means they could be sucked into the bottom three at the end of the long round if results go against them.  In their last five matches, they have no wins and have mustered just three points, so they definitely need something to go in their favor, especially seeing as how this is a home affair with another team that is struggling.

Watford, on the other hand, will come into this match in 19th spot with 23 points thus far.  A win for them would put them level on points with Brighton, but they have not looked up to the races lately.  They had burst into life under Pearson initially, but two losses in a row and only a point from their last three PL fixtures once again has them in trouble.  As does the fact that they blew a two-goal lead last weekend to Everton.

The Seagulls’ home form this term has not been great, but it has been pretty decent.  They have 17 points- from four wins and five draws total.  They have lost just once in their last five at the Amex and have six points to show from a win and three draws, so it could get worse, we reckon.  The Hornets, meanwhile, have not enjoyed much success on their travels.  In 12 outings, they have nine points- from two wins and three draws.  In their last five matches, they do have four points from away games, so that is a bit of an uptick.

Ladbrokes have Brighton’s double chance at 2/7.

Betfair have no for both sides scoring at 2.0.

Brighton vs Watford Prediction

You can easily see this one being a pulsating, nervy affair, and that’s what we expect to see.  Composure may be lacking, and whenever that occurs, a nil-nil draw could be right around the corner.

Correct Score Prediction: Brighton 0-0 Watford

Brighton Team News

Graham Potter continues to be without Dan Burn and Jose Izquierdo due to injuries.  Meanwhile, center back Shane Duffy is in a race to get fit, though it looks to be one in which he is winning.

Brighton Key Man

Potter is in a real state of difficulty now.  Neal Maupay has been in form for much of the season, looking like one of the signings of the term, but Glenn Murray, getting a rare start, scored them a big goal to grab a point as they came from behind to draw with West Ham.  Will he stick with him here?  In midfield, Pascal Gross also burst back into form.  He scored the second goal to give them a chance after being two down, and it’s just as well that they have their winger back in some semblance of form.

Brighton Team Form

Brighton have two draws and three losses in their last five matches:

3-3 draw at West Ham
3-1 loss at Bournemouth
1-1 home draw vs Aston Villa
1-0 loss at Everton
0-1 home loss vs Sheffield Wednesday (FA Cup)

Brighton Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-2-3-1

Watford Team News

Nigel Pearson will be without Daryl Janmaat, Craig Dawson, and Kiko Femenia due to injuries for this tie.  Three others- Tom Cleverley, Nathaniel Chalobah, and Ismaila Sarr- are dealing with ones of their own but are fighting to be fit for this showdown fixture.

Watford Key Man

They may have blown a two-goal lead against Everton last weekend, but the Hornets at least saw two of their key forward-thinking players remain in good form.  Troy Deeney got himself another goal, taking his tally up to five on the season, and he continues to be one of the men to watch as he had bags of experience and a fighting attitude.  Gerard Deulofeu had an assist in the loss, giving him five of those to go with four goals.  He’s still capable of a huge showing, and Brighton will have to be on their toes to keep him from ruining their evening.

Watford Team Form

Watford have three losses, a draw, and a win in their last five matches:

2-3 home loss vs Everton
2-1 extra time loss vs Tranmere (FA Cup)
2-1 loss at Aston Villa
0-0 home draw vs Tottenham
0-3 win at Bournemouth

Watford Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-2-3-1

Whenever you see matches like this, particularly as the season draws closer to the end, you tend to see a very tight, tense affair. Both teams may well go for it, so to speak, but they also are likely to be a lot of nerves on display. While a draw doesn't do either a world of good, it would suit Brighton much better. The Seagulls have not had the best of runs, but they seem to be catching Watford at a good time. They definitely should get something from this one.
At least one of the two sides have been held to a clean sheet in each of the last six matches between them.
