Liverpoll have won their last eight matches against Brighton, including all five since the Seagulls’ promotion to the Premier League in 2017. After a pair of 1-0 wins last season, they won 2-1 at Anfield when they met earlier this season – Virgil van Dijk scoring twice for Liverpool, with Lewis Dunk pulling one back for Brighton. Brighton have lost every match they have played against Liverpool in the Premier League, and despite Liverpool’s poor away form they are expected to lose this one too.
The Reds have not even scored away from home in their last five matches – losing four times and drawing once.
The most recent defeat, of course, was the thrashing at Manchester City that spoiled Liverpool’s title party.
They were back to normal last weekend – not impressing for most of the game against Aston Villa and yet once again finding a way to win.
Once again, a Sadio Mane goal was key to that too and the Senegalese winger is also the last Liverpool player to score away from home.
He could be integral to their hopes of ending their poor away form and staying on track for a new Premier League record points tally.
Brighton, for their part, have been in good form since lockdown, ensuring they stay well clear of relegation trouble.
Victory against Arsenal and a draw with Leicester highlighted what they can do – they can be a tough team to beat.
But Manchester United found a way to get past them – three times no less – and Liverpool will expect to end their poor away form and take all three points too.
Liverpool are odds-on favourites to beat Brighton but it is perhaps a marker of their poor away form that you can back them at 5/9 to win with 10Bet.

Youngsters Alexis Mac Allister and Tariq Lamptey have both been enjoying playing time since the season restarted but there could be changes for this match from the win at Norwich. Pascal Gross, Bernardo, Dale Stephens and Shane Duffy are all among the players pushing for recalls. Steven Alzate and Jose Izquierdo are both sidelined.
Neal Maupay – The striker leads Brighton’s goalscoring charts this season, with his late winner against Arsenal marking his ninth of the season.
Lewis Dunk – Scored when these teams last met and also scored against Arsenal, as well as leading the defence to two clean sheets in the last four games.
Aaron Mooy – The midfielder has been a key signing for Brighton this season, and his permanent deal has been followed by more decent form.
After a decent return to action, beating Arsenal and drawing with Leicester, Brighton lost heavily to Manchester United in their most recent home game. They bounced back from that 3-0 defeat as Leandro Trossard scored the only goal away to Brighton, however, to keep them clear of the bottom three.
Andrew Robertson expects to recover from a dead leg sustained against Aston Villa, but Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren are definitely sidelined and James Milner is unlikely to be risked. Liverpool could restore Gini Wijnaldum, Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson to the starting line-up after they were dropped to the bench against Liverpool – all three coming on before the Reds finally broke the deadlock.
Sadio Mane – The last player to score away from home in the league for Liverpool, he also hit his 16th league goal of the season to break the deadlock last time out.
Mo Salah – Low-key performance against City in the last away game but he still has 17 goals for the season and set up the second last weekend.
Virgil van Dijk – Two goals when these teams last met showed his presence in the attacking box, and he has led the defence incredibly since signing.
Liverpool have only conceded in one game since their return to action, but that match was their 4-0 defeat to Manchester City in their last away game. Last time out, Sadio Mane and Curtis Jones scored as they got back to winning ways against Aston Villa.
