Bournemouth vs Aston Villa Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Bournemouth are at +110, a draw is at +250, and Aston Villa are at +230.

Bournemouth will come into this match having gotten a big, much-needed boost the last time out in the PL.  Sure, they did lose in the FA Cup, but they won against Brighton to take a bit of pressure off of them.  Even with that win, though, they are still in 18th spot ahead of the weekend.  They have 23 points, so a win here would at least guarantee that they drag Villa down to take their place.  They win last time out ended a very long run without a win and was a massive relief.

Aston Villa, meanwhile, will start the weekend in 16th spot with two more points than the Cherries have.  This doesn’t seem like a big deal, but it does mean that they can come into this in a bit more of a pragmatic way.  A point here would be much better for them than it would be for their hosts, though a win would obviously be nice, too.  Like the Cherries, they have some momentum behind them.  They are headed to the EFL Cup Final at Wembley and they won over Watford last time to give them seven points from their last four PL games.

The Cherries’ home record this term has been far from brilliant.  They have 13 points, via three wins and four draws, from 12 games.  That has them among the worst in the division in that stat.  With that being said, they do have a win and a draw in the last three games, so that is something to note.  As for Villa, they have been largely atrocious on the road, picking up just eight points from 12 games.  They have only two away wins, though they have one of those and a draw in their last two to give them a major boost.

Both teams scoring can be had at Betfair for 1.57.

Ladbrokes have Grealish scoring anytime at 21/10.

Bournemouth vs Aston Villa Prediction

Bournemouth are in bad need of a win here, but we just don’t see that coming.  Sure, they did see off Brighton to finally win again, but Villa have the wind at their proverbial back and can use that to full aplomb.

Correct Score Prediction: Bournemouth 1-2 Aston Villa

Bournemouth Team News

Eddie Howe persists with a large list of injured players, with Josh King, Jack Stacey, Arnaut Groeneveld, Lloyd Kelly, Charlie Daniels, David Brooks, and Chris Mepham all remaining out.  Philip Billing is said to have a 50/50 shot at playing here, so we’ll see how that turns out.

Bournemouth Key Man

If the Cherries are to keep climbing their way out of trouble, it’s going to be through the two Wilson’s- Harry and Callum.  Callum, who had not scored in seemingly forever in the PL, got back to his usual ways last time out, sealing the win with a third goal against the Seagulls.  That came, of course, after Harry Wilson had put the opener into the back of the net.  The on-loan Liverpool man now has seven in his debut PL season, while Callum has six to his tally thus far and is looking up a bit now.

Bournemouth Team Form

Bournemouth have three losses and two wins in their last five matches:

1-2 home loss vs Arsenal (FA Cup)
3-1 home win vs Brighton
1-0 loss at Norwich
0-3 home loss vs Watford
4-0 home win vs Luton Town (FA Cup)

Bournemouth Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-1-1

Aston Villa Team News

Dean Smith has two massive members of his team out in the form of Tom Heaton and John McGinn.  Wesley also is out, sidelined for the remainder of the season, while Jed Steer is also due to miss out.

Aston Villa Key Man

In really tough matches, the man Villa have to turn to is certainly, without question, Jack Grealish.  The English midfielder has been linked with numerous clubs, and it’s easy to see why.  He set up a goal in their EFL Cup win and he leads the sides with seven goals and five assists to his name thus far.  Egyptian winger Trezeguet is another that will need to be watched.  His late, late winner against the Foxes took them to Wembley and he’s got three to his name in the PL as well.

Aston Villa Team Form

Aston Villa have two wins, two draws, and a loss in their last five matches:

2-1 home win vs Leicester (EFL Cup)
2-1 home win vs Watford
1-1 draw at Brighton
1-6 home loss vs Manchester City
1-1 draw at Leicester (EFL Cup)

Aston Villa Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 3-4-3

This is a very interesting one to take a look at. Both teams, at least in the Premier League, are in a better mood than they were. It could go either way, and numbers probably fall toward the hosts, but you get the feeling Villa have more about them currently. A cup run can sometimes spur a team on to greater heights, and you get the feeling that might be the case for them. They defeated Leicester, a much better side on paper, and they may back themselves to win here.
Aston Villa have picked up half (four from eight) of their away points in the last two matches alone.
