Our Prediction Tip

Belgium will win this match.

Scotland and Belgium met in September, when the Red Devils won 4-0 at Hampden Park, Glasgow. Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard put Belgium 2-0 up, before Michy Batshuayi struck twice to seal a comprehensive win. It was Belgium’s 11th win in 18 previous games against Scotland and their fourth in a row. Scotland last beat Belgium in 1987.

BEL vs SCO Betting Tips

With Alex McLeish still in charge of the Scots, Belgium thrashed Scotland in a friendly in September.

Steve Clarke’s reign in charge of Scotland started with victory against Cyprus, but Belgium can inflict another big defeat on the Scots this time.

Romelu Lukaku’s incredible goalscoring record for the Red Devils continued last time out, while in Real Madrid-bound Eden Hazard and fit-again Kevin de Bruyne they boast two of the finest creative attacking players in world football.

Scotland, by contrast, are starting afresh with Steve Clarke selecting a relatively inexperienced squad.

They got a result against Cyprus, but Belgium is a different matter entirely.

A strong defence and superb attack mean Roberto Martinez remain one of the most feared in international football.

Hazard, De Bruyne, Lukaku and co can help Belgium continue where they left off when they last met Scotland.

This might be a new era for Scotland, but it is hard to see this match resulting in anything other than a convincing Belgian win.

Scotland vs Belgium Recommended bets with odds

Belgium are big favourites to beat Scotland, at 1/7 with Bet365 and Ladbrokes.

They won to nil last time they met, and you can bet against both teams to score at 1/2 with Bet365 and Ladbrokes. A Belgium win to nil is worth 4/6, meanwhile.

The Red Devils managed four goals when these teams last met, meanwhile, and three in their most recent game. Over 2.5 goals returns 1/2 with Bet365, Ladbrokes, Betfair and Betway.

Speaking of goals, Romelu Lukaku stepped closer to 50 Belgian goals last time out, and he is 4/5 with Bet365 and 10Bet to score at any time. Eden Hazard is 19/20 with Ladbrokes and Betway.

Belgium vs Scotland Prediction

Belgium remain one of the strongest sides in international football and, as they did in September, they can record a comfortable win against Scotland.

Correct Score Prediction: Belgium 3-0 Scotland

Belgium Team News

Newly-appointed Anderlecht player-manager Vincent Kompany started against Kazakhstan, as did fit-again former Manchester City team-mate Kevin de Bruyne. Kompany could be rested against Scotland, however – he has not tended to play two matches in a week for club or country in recent seasons. Thomas Vermaelen will replace him if so.

Belgium Key Players

Eden Hazard – The new Real Madrid man scored in the previous game against Scotland and the Belgium captain now has 30 goals in 101 appearances.
Kevin de Bruyne – Fit again and his creativity and passing vision will ensure he is at the centre of a lot of Belgium’s best play.
Romelu Lukaku – His goal against Kazakhstan was his 46th for Belgium, from 80 international caps – his international form has never dipped, even if his club form has.

Belgium Team Form

Since their defeat in Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League in November, Belgium have bounced back well with three straight wins at the start of Euro 2020 qualifying. Eden Hazard’s double – after Youri Tielemans’ opener was cancelled out – set the tone in a 3-1 win at home to Russia. Hazard and Michy Batshuayi then scored in a 2-0 win in Cyprus, before Dries Mertens, Timoty Castagne and Romelu Lukaku fired Belgium to a 3-0 victory against Kazakhstan last time out.

Belgium Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 3-4-3

Scotland Team News

Steve Clarke has heralded his appointment by tearing up the squad list and handed Eamonn Brophy an international debut against Cyprus. There are four other uncapped players in the squad, which features a heavy presence of Kilmarnock players – where Clarke previously worked. Oliver Burke could start ahead of Brophy this time, however, after scoring the winner from the bench last time out.

Scotland Key Players

Andrew Robertson – The Scotland captain opened the scoring against Cyprus to continue a fine season, which included Liverpool’s Champions League triumph.
Oliver Burke – The Celtic striker’s first international goal ensured Steve Clarke’s international reign got off to a winning start.
Charlie Mulgrew – The big centre-back can be a danger from set pieces, both taking them and in the air in the middle.

Scotland Team Form

Scotland’s form reached a new nadir when they lost 3-0 in Kazakhstan in March. An unconvincing 2-0 win in San Marino followed, in which Kenny McLean and Johnny Russell scored. Steve Clarke’s first game in charge, last time out, saw Andrew Robertson open the scoring and, after Cyprus snatched a late equaliser, Oliver Burke popped up with an even later winner.

Scotland Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

Scotland's rebuilding under Steve Clarke continues when they travel to Belgium, but a change in manager is unlikely to lead to a change of fortune compared to the thrashing they suffered in September's friendly against the Red Devils. Belgium were dominant then and could be dominant again in this fixture.
Belgium are unbeaten in 17 qualifying fixtures (World Cup and Euros), winning 16 of those.
