AVFC vs WHUFC Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Aston Villa are at 13/8, a draw is at 5/2, and West Ham are at 8/5.

Aston Villa will come into this match hoping to find some consistency in the Premier League.  They are sitting in 18th place, in the drop zone, with just three points so far thanks to three losses and just one win.  They did win the last time they were at home, over Everton, but that is hardly a guarantee that they will do so again here.  Dean Smith has seen the club spend a lot of money on players this past summer, and that puts a lot of pressure on him to perform or risk being the next manager to be let go.

West Ham didn’t make the start they would have wanted, but they have since rebounded in a very nice way to once again show that the Hammers are one of England’s finest roller coasters.  They were beaten badly by Manchester City on the first weekend, but they have responded with a draw at Brighton and then wins over Watford and Norwich in successive weeks.  Each of those teams are in 19th and 20th, so they might just feel an omen is on the cards and that they will be favored to beat another provisional relegation side here.

Haller to score anytime is at 2.7 via Betfair.

Ladbrokes have both teams scoring at ½.

Aston Villa vs West Ham Prediction

West Ham haven’t often had the chance to go on a three match winning run like this in recent years, so they will no doubt be salivating at this chance.  Having beaten fellow promoted side Norwich, they will add Villa to the list.

Correct Score Prediction: Aston Villa 1-2 West Ham

Aston Villa Team News

Dean Smith will be missing winger Mahmoun Hassan (aka Trezeguet) here due to suspension after he got two yellow cards and was sent off in the loss at Palace last time out.  Jonathan Kodija, through injury, is a doubt to feature, while Matt Targett looks set to surely miss out.

Aston Villa Key Man

It’s not been all bad for Villa so far, but there is still work to be done.  One spot where they have gotten a lot of positivity from has been John McGinn.  The Scottish midfielder scored on opening day against Tottenham in spectacular fashion, and it will be hoped that he can keep on inspiring his side forward.  Up front, Wesley has proven to be a formidable striker, though he’s yet to knock the door down.  The Brazilian made a big jump upon trading Belgium for England and one goal so far shows he is adjusting so far.

Aston Villa Team Form

Aston Villa have three losses and two wins in their last five matches:

1-0 loss at Crystal Palace
1-6 win at Crewe Alexandria (EFL Cup)
2-0 home win vs Everton
1-2 home loss vs Bournemouth
3-1 loss at Tottenham

Aston Villa Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-3-3

West Ham Team News

Manuel Pellegrini has finally gotten Chicharito off the books, so that ends that ridiculous will-he-won’t-he bit of confusion over his status.  Apart from that, the only two injury worries are to Michail Antonio and Winston Reid, who seems to have been out since 2000.

West Ham Key Man

The idea that Sebastien Haller was a flop after the first couple of weeks was making its rounds, but the Frenchman has served to dispel that in the past couple of outings.  He now has three goals, one of which was the winner over Norwich, on the season to show the money they stumped up for him wasn’t a total waste.  In midfield, Felipe Anderson will be one to watch.  The former Lazio man has bags and bags of pace at his disposal, and that could be just what his side need in order to get Haller more chances to poach goals.

West Ham Team Form

West Ham have three wins, a draw, and a loss in their last five matches:

2-0 home win vs Norwich
0-2 win at Newport County (EFL Cup)
1-3 win at Watford
1-1 draw at Brighton
0-5 home loss vs Manchester City

West Ham Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-5-1

West Ham are experiencing an upswing in form at the moment, and that will do a whole lot for their confidence ahead of this match with Dean Smith's Aston Villa. The hosts are not going to go down without a fight and may well get better as the season goes on, but they are struggling so far to cope with the intensity of the division. With the Hammers' strikers now firing, it will be they who turn up the wick and record three points.
Since suffering an awful 0-5 home loss on the opening weekend, West Ham have drawn once and won twice ahead of this, their fifth fixture of the season.
