Aston Villa are at 10/3, a draw is at 3/1, and Leicester are at 8/11.
Aston Villa got a massive win in the Premier League on Tuesday night when they overcame surging Watford. That win took Villa to 25 points, putting them two points clear of the drop currently. That’s three results from their last four in the PL, and now they also have a chance to make it to an unlikely cup final. Sure, it seems like it would be an unwise decision to go for it, but it could kick them on and help them gain confidence in this relegation battle.
Leicester, meanwhile, have been struggling in the PL of late. Still yet, they are in third with 48 points, well above fifth place Manchester United by 14 points. They have lost two of the last three in the PL, and of course, they had an issue in the home leg of this tie. They did get Ndidi back from injury, but now Vardy is a question mark. They are favorites here, but maybe not by as much as they would have been a few weeks back.
At home thus far in all competitions, Villa have seven wins, two draws, and five losses. One stat that is a bit damning is that they have failed to win any back-to-back since October. One of those wins was against Liverpool’s youth team in that annihilation earlier in the tournament. As for the Foxes, they have nine wins, two wins on penalties, a draw, and four losses on the road in all competitions. Two of those four losses have come in their last four away outings, so they are in a bit of a dip at the moment.
Betfair have Iheanacho or Vardy scoring anytime at 2.0 and 1.62.
Ladbrokes have both teams scoring at 8/15.
Leicester have had a fantastic season thus far, but you can't help but feel like it may be a bit of a waste if they don’t make it to Wembley. They do so with a fine showing against a stubborn but ultimately vanquished host.
Dean Smith will be missing Jed Steer, Tom Heaton, Wesley, John McGinn, and Keinan Davis due to injuries for this home leg against the Foxes.
If Villa want to progress to a remarkable final, they will have to do so without a recognized striker. Luckily for them, they have Jack Grealish in their ranks still. The Englishman is such a vital player and has scored plenty of big PL goals thus far. What’s one more in the cup, right? With their new-ish wing back system, they have freed up Frederic Guilbert. He made that pay off in the first leg when he slotted home the opener. Though they didn’t hang on to win, it gave them a nice foothold in the tie.
Aston Villa have a win, two draws, and two losses in their last five matches:
2-1 home win vs Watford
1-1 draw at Brighton
1-6 home loss vs Manchester City
1-1 draw at Leicester (EFL Cup)
2-1 loss at Fulham (FA Cup)
Brendan Rodgers will be missing both Daniel Amartey and Namaplys Mendy due to injuries. However, both Matt James and Jamie Vardy, a much bigger player for them, are question marks and could feature for the Foxes in this all-important second leg.
Should Jamie Vardy not be able to go, the Foxes still have quite the front man to turn to in the form of Kelechi Iheanacho. He scored in the FA Cup on Saturday and he’s scored three times in this competition thus far. Plus, he’s been in devastating form of late, even with fleeting chances. In midfield, James Maddison is the man that can help to break down Villa if things are tough. He can score from deep or pick out a pass, making him a massive and complete threat to the hosts’ back line.
Leicester have two wins, two losses, and a draw in their last five matches:
0-1 win at Brentford (FA Cup)
4-1 home win vs West Ham
2-1 loss at Burnley
1-2 home loss vs Southampton
1-1 home draw vs Aston Villa (EFL Cup)
