Our Prediction Tip

Arsenal will win this match.

Arsenal have won 65 of their previous matches against Leicester, drawing 44 and losing 30. Leicester’s 3-1 win at home towards the end of last season was the Foxes’ first in the league in this fixture since 1994, however. Since Leicester’s Premier League return, Arsenal had won five and drawn two of the seven previous matches, including a 4-3 win at home in which they had come from 2-1 and 3-2 down on the opening day of last season. Leicester got their overdue win thanks to goals from Kelechi Iheanacho and, after Pierre-Emerick Aubemayang’s equaliser, one each for Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez. Here are the results of their last five matches:

May 09, 2018: Leicester City 3-1 Arsenal
Aug 11, 2017: Arsenal 4-3 Leicester City
Apr 26, 2017: Arsenal 1-0 Leicester City
Aug 20, 2016: Leicester City 0-0 Arsenal
Feb 14, 2016: Arsenal 2-1 Leicester City

Arsenal have hit their stride under Unai Emery and it is a testament to the quality of their performance at Fulham – particularly in the second-half – that Mesut Ozil may struggle to get back into this team.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are both in the goals – getting two apiece last time out – while they have shown plenty of defensive improvement after leaking goals early in Emery’s reign.

Leicester have also impressed at times this season but they have been inconsistent, not helped by Wes Morgan’s two red cards so far.

He will sit this game out as well, leaving Jonny Evans and Harry Maguire to deal with Arsenal’s in-form front men.

James Maddison and, as ever, Jamie Vardy will be danger men but Leicester have traditionally struggled in this fixture – ending a long winless run at the end of last season, at a time when the curtain was coming down on Arsene Wenger’s spell in charge.

Both sides have changed tactically since then but Arsenal are the team in much greater form. They have pace at full-back to deal with Leicester’s counter-attacking threat and a solid holding midfield – with Lucas Torreira and/or Granit Xhaka in there – to tame the threat of James Maddison.

The Gunners have won nine in a row, and Leicester may be powerless to stop them making it ten on the bounce on Monday night.

Leicester City vs Arsenal Recommended bets with odds

Arsenal are odds-on favourites to beat Leicester, which is testament to their recent form. Betway are offering 8/15 on a home win.

Arsenal may have conceded at Fulham last time out, but they have been defensively assured in recent weeks too. An Arsenal win to nil improves those odds to 2/1 with Bet365 and Ladbrokes.

You can also bet against both teams to score at 13/10 with Ladbrokes.

Both of Arsenal’s front men are in top form, and you can back Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score at any time at 19/20 with Betway, while Alexandre Lacazette is a best price of 11/10 with Bet365.

Arsenal vs Leicester City Prediction

Arsenal have built up some momentum of late, and the Gunners are now on a roll under Unai Emery. Leicester have impressed at times, but their inconsistency – coupled with Arsenal’s superb form – makes it hard to back against the hosts.

Correct Score Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Leicester City

Arsenal Team News

Mesut Ozil is fit after his back injury, while Ainsley Maitland-Niles – who fractured his leg on the opening day of the season – is also back in full training. Petr Cech (hamstring), Sokratis Papastathopoulos (ankle) and Danny Welbeck (thigh) will all be assessed ahead of the match. Of those, only Danny Welbeck started the last match against Fulham, however, and – with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ready to return to the fold up front in his place – there may be no need to risk any of them. Henrikh Mkhitaryan replaced Mesut Ozil, meanwhile, and Emery may choose to stick with a winning line-up – with the German on the bench.

Arsenal Key Players

Alexandre Lacazette – Continued his return to goalscoring form by netting twice against Fulham, taking him to five for the season so far.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Stepped off the bench to set up Aaron Ramsey’s goal before scoring twice himself in the win at Fulham.
Aaron Ramsey – Missed Wales’ last match due to his wife giving birth, but will be back in the Arsenal team after a goal and an assist last time out.

Arsenal Team Form

Since back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea at the start of the season, Arsenal have won their next nine matches in a row. Their last five wins included a 2-0 triumph at home to Everton when Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang scored the goals, whole Lacazette put the seal on the 3-1 Carabao Cup win at home to Brentford in the week that followed – Danny Welbeck having scored the first two. Another 2-0 win, at home to Watford, followed thanks to a late own goal and Mesut Ozil’s strike, before they won 3-0 at Qarabag in the Europa League with a much-changed team. Last time out, Lacazette and Aubameyang both scored twice and Aaron Ramsey netted the other in a 5-1 win away to Fulham. They had been drawing 1-1 at half-time before Arsenal ran riot after the break.

Arsenal Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-4-2

Leicester City Team News

Wes Morgan’s red card in the home defeat to Everton means the Foxes captain will be suspended for the second time this season. Jonny Evans replaced him and partnered Harry Maguire last time, and is likely to be the man called upon again. Demarai Gray could return on the wing, meanwhile – that would likely mean Kelechi Iheanacho making way and James Maddison returning to a more central position.

Leicester City Key Players

James Maddison – Summer signing has impressed with three goals and two assists so far, earning a first England call-up in the process.
Jamie Vardy – Joint top scorer having also netted three times so far this season.
Harry Maguire – The England centre-back will be key against Arsenal’s in-form front men if Leicester are to take anything from this match.

Leicester City Team Form

Leicester’s defeat to Everton last time out, losing 2-1 after Wes Morgan’s red card having gone in at the break level thanks to Ricardo Pereira’s equaliser, ended a three-match unbeaten run. The Foxes had initially bounced back from a 4-2 defeat to Bournemouth by beating Huddersfield 3-1 – coming from behind as Kelechi Iheanacho, James Maddison and Jamie Vardy all netted – before winning on penalties against Wolves in the Carabao Cup. They then won 2-0 away to Newcastle thanks to Jamie Vardy’s penalty and Harry Maguire’s goal.

Leicester City Predicted Starting Line up

Expected Line up: 4-2-3-1

After a tricky start and defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea, Arsenal have hit their stride under Unai Emery. A win at home to mid-table Leicester City would make it ten wins in a row in all competitions and, the way they blew Fulham away before the international break, you can not back against the Gunners doing exactly that.
Arsenal have won their last nine consecutive matches in all competitions, scoring 27 goals in the process.
