Chelsea

Our Prediction Tip

Chelsea will win this match.

Arsenal might have won their last FA Cup Final against Chelsea but they lost their most recent cup final – the 4-1 defeat in last season’s Europa League in Baku. Since then, Chelsea won 2-1 at the Emirates in the league this season and both sides drew 2-2 at Stamford Bridge. Jorginho and Tammy Abraham struck late as Chelsea came from a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang goal down just after Christmas, and Jorginho opened the scoring in the reverse fixture too. Gabriel Martinelli cancelled it out, however, and Hector Bellerin then cancelled out Cesar Azpilicueta’s strike late on too.  Here are the last five results:

Jan 21, 2020: Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal
Dec 29. 2019: Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea
May 29, 2019: Chelsea 4-1 Arsenal
Jan 19, 2019: Arsenal 2-0 Chelsea
Aug 18, 2018: Chelsea 3-2 Arsenal

Arsenal vs Chelsea Betting Tips

Arsenal might have the better record in FA Cup finals, but this is Chelsea’s chance to hit back and avenge some of those more recent defeats.

They beat Arsenal when they last met in a final – running riot in the Europa League last season – and are unbeaten against them this season too.

Former Gunners striker Olivier Giroud is in fine form up front, scoring six goals in the last seven games, and with a fine personal FA Cup record, he is keen for one more success in the famous competition.

He will be the key man, against an Arsenal defence that is definitely missing Shkodran Mustafi and Pablo Mari and could be without Hector Bellerin too.

Chelsea have their own injury concerns – N’Golo Kante is only likely to make the bench and Willian will be a big loss.

But the players they have brought in to replace them have generally played well.

Chelsea were far too good for Manchester United in their semi-final – albeit fortunate that David de Gea made so many goalkeeping mistakes in that game.

Arsenal, on the other hand, pulled off a tactical masterclass to beat Manchester City in their semi-final – with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang capping two counter-attacks with two goals.

It is one thing overcoming the team you coached at the start of the year tactically, and another against an upcoming manager whose team have found some great form of their own.

Frank Lampard’s Chelsea could be the ones celebrating at Wembley on Saturday.

Arsenal vs Chelsea Recommended bets with odds

Chelsea are favourites to win this game at 23/20 with Bet365, Betway and 888sport, having not lost to Arsenal this season.

Both teams to score – as has been the case in their last three meetings – is 3/4 with Bet365.

You can also get a best price of 19/20 with Bet365 on over 2.5 goals being scored at Wembley.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is Arsenal’s top scorer, and he is a best price of 8/5 with 888sport to score at any time, but the smart money would be on in-form Olivier Giroud at a best price of 7/4 with Bet365.

Arsenal vs Chelsea Prediction

Chelsea are in the better form of the two overall and the Blues can end a good season for their promising young team with a trophy – setting themselves up well when they add their eagerly-awaited summer signings.

Correct score prediction: Arsenal 1-2 Chelsea

Arsenal Team News

Emiliano Martinez will continue in goal with Bernd Leno still among Arsenal’s absentees. Hector Bellerin is touch-and-go to be fit after a minor calf injury, but long-term absentees Pablo Mari, Shkodran Mustafi, Calum Chambers and Gabriel Martinelli will all miss out. Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi have been frozen out by Mikel Arteta, so the key selection decision will be which of Bukayo Saka, Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock starts – or whether he goes for none of the above and opts for three at the back instead.

Arsenal Key Players

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – Scored both goals in the FA Cup semi-final win against Manchester City and two goals on the final day of the league season against Watford last time out.
Emiliano Martinez – When Arsenal beat Liverpool in the league, the goalkeeper played a blinder and he could be key again in this showpiece.
Alexandre Lacazette – Scored against Spurs and Liverpool in the recent league fixtures and is likely to lead the Arsenal line with Aubameyang outside him.

Arsenal Team Form

Arsenal withstood Watford’s desperate fightback to end the league season with a 3-2 win – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring either side of Kieran Tierney’s goal. Aubameyang has previous scored twice in Arsenal’s previous win, in the FA Cup semi-final, too. That match was preceded by the 2-1 home win against Liverpool – both games showing Arsenal are still a match for anyone on their day.

Arsenal Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line up: 3-4-3

Chelsea Team News

N’Golo Kante could return having finally got back to training after his thigh injury, but the bench seems more likely. A bigger loss will be Willian, who missed the final game of the season through injury. That meant a return for Christian Pulisic, who is no bad replacement. Olivier Giroud’s will surely be rewarded with a start against his former team.

Chelsea Key Players

Olivier Giroud – Scored six goals in Chelsea’s last seven matches, including the FA Cup semi-final – they lost the one match in which he did not start or score.
Mason Mount – Scored in the FA Cup semi-final win against Manchester United and scored again on the final day of the league season.
Christian Pulisic – Willian had been in fine goalscoring form so he will be missed but the American is a great replacement and has nine goals of his own this season.

Chelsea Team Form

Chelsea bounced back from a topsy-turvy eight-goal bonanza at Anfield, in which they eventually lost 5-3 despite Olivier Giroud, Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic all pulling goals back, before Mason Mount and Giroud ensured a 2-0 win at home to Wolves on the final day. That win secured Champions League football for next season.

Chelsea Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line up: 3-4-3

After a disappointing league campaign, Arsenal can end on a high when they take on Chelsea in the FA Cup Final. Chelsea were more convincing over the league season, but Arsenal - including two wins against Chelsea since they last lost the FA Cup Final - have an excellent record in the FA Cup final to uphold. Nevertheless, given their league form, Chelsea are favourites.
Including victory against Chelsea in 2017, Arsenal have won their six FA Cup Finals.
