France will win this match.
France have won all three previous matches they have played against Andorra without conceding. Their most recent meeting was in 2004, when France record their biggest ever win in this fixture, 4-0. The first meeting, in 1998, saw current manager Didier Deschamps line up in midfield for the world champions.
France will expect to beat Andorra comfortably and so they should, even after their surprise loss in Turkey last time out.
A few players will feel they have a point to prove after the below-par showing last time out – only France’s second defeat since the World Cup.
Previously, Antoine Griezmann, Olivier Giroud and Kylian Mbappe had all been in the goals and if they can get back to their best form then France will too.
N’Golo Kante is an obvious miss in central midfield, but Paul Pogba and Moussa Sissoko will control the tempo against Andorra.
With the aforementioned three up front, feeding off that service, Andorra’s defence could be in for a long night.
At the other end, Andorra have failed to score in any of their last four games – against Latvia, Iceland, Albania and Moldova. Samuel Umtiti and Raphael Varane – if it is they who start at centre-back – will not be expecting a busy evening.
Anything less than a big France win would be one of the biggest shocks in both countries’ footballing histories – the only real question is how many France will win by.
You will not find a lower price than Ladbrokes 1/33 on France to beat Andorra.
Both Ladbrokes and Bet365 are offering a generous 2/9 on France to win to nil, however – surprising considering Andorra have not scored for four games.
You can also bet against both trams to score at the same price with Bet365.
France will expect to rack up a big score and over 3.5 goals will return 4/7 with Betfair and Paddy Power.
Antoine Griezmann is a best price of 1/2 with Ladbrokes and Betway to get in the goalscoring act at any time, while Kylian Mbappe is 4/9 with Betway. Olivier Giroud is 8/13 with Bet365 or 11/18 with 10Bet.
France need to hit back after their defeat to Turkey and Andorra could face the backlash from that game – France can rack up a big win.
Veteran striker Juli Sanchez remained unused on the bench as Andorra fell to defeat in Moldova and he is unlikely to feature against France either. Andorra went 4-4-2 for that game, but may drop deeper against France.
Ildefons Lima – Vastly experienced centre-back will be in for a difficult evening against France’s awesome attack.
Jordi Alaez – The last player in the current squad to score for Andorra and will be hoping to start up top again against the world champions.
Josep Gomes – France were shut out by Turkey last time out and, while you could get long odds on Andorra doing the same, goalkeeper Josep Gomes could make a name for himself.
Andorra have lost all three Euro 2020 qualifiers so far and failed to score in their last four matches in total. In this group, they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Iceland first up and then lost 3-0 to Albania. Last time out, an early goal consigned them to a 1-0 defeat in Moldova.
France are without injured N’Golo Kante in midfield, while uncapped Montpellier goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte dropped out of the squad before the two qualifiers too. Ferland Mendy replaced Lucas Digne at half-time against Turkey, while Kingsley Coman came on for Blaise Matuidi, and both could start against Andorra.
Antoine Griezmann – Scored in three consecutive matches before the defeat to Turkey and now has 29 international goals from 71 caps.
Olivier Giroud – Started the Euro 2020 qualifiers by scoring against both Moldova and Iceland to take his international tally to 35.
Kylian Mbappe – Another to score in the opening two matches in this group, as the 20-year-old looks to build on his outstanding World Cup.
France had bounced back from defeat to the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League with four straight wins before their surprise 2-0 defeat in Turkey last time out. They had geared up for that game with a 2-0 friendly win against Bolivia – Thomas Lemar and Antoine Griezmann scoring – while they kicked off their Euro 2020 qualifiers with big wins against Moldova and Iceland. In Moldova, Griezmann, Raphael Varane, Olivier Giround and Kylian Mbappe scored in a 4-1 win, while at home to Iceland it was Samuel Umtiti, Giroud, Mbappe and Griezmann on target as France won 4-0.
