Uzbekistan vs Qatar Prediction

Uzbekistan were able to overcome Qatar in the away fixture, so they should have more than enough to win on their own home soil to continue their hopes of qualification.

Correct Score Prediction: Uzbekistan 3-1 Qatar

Uzbekistan vs Qatar Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Uzbekistan are at 10/11 to win, a draw is at 23/10, and a Qatar win is at 16/5.

Both teams to score is at 5/4 for yes and 4/7 for no.

A 1-0 win for the Uzbeks could bring you 8/1 odds if correct.

Reason: With goals being hard to come by in the group, the bookmakers don't see many goals being let in here.  But Uzbekistan are still favorites due to playing at home and having more points in the group so far.  They also have a good record in the head to head battle as well.

Team News

Samvel Babayan is very likely to change his side a little after they laid a bit of an egg against Syria last time out.  Expect some changes in the forward areas as they look to improve upon their attack.

Key Man

Igor Sergeev came on as a sub on Thursday, but he should be getting the starting nod here for this match.  The 23 year old has scored 11 times in 37 his caps for the Uzbeks, and he averages a goal every other game for his club side Pahkatkor Tashkent in Uzbekistan.  He's yet to score against any of the bigger teams, though, so now would be a great time for him to show just how much quality he has to him.

Team Form

Uzbekistan have three losses and two wins in their last five qualifiers.  They lost 1-0 to Syria in Malaysia on Thursday to hurt their chances of qualification.

Expected Line-up: 4-2-3-1

Uzbekistan likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Lobanov

  • Defenders:Tukhtakujaev, Krimets, Ismailov, Khashimov

  • Defensive Midfielders:Haydarov, Akhmedov

  • Attacking Midfielders:Masharipov, Djeparov, Bilkmaev

  • Striker:Sergeev

Team News

Jose Daniel Carreno

Key Man

20 year old Akram Afif has been baptized by fire here.  The Sporting Gijon man, on loan from Villarreal in La Liga, has been given the chance to learn the hard way in the very center of midfield.  He has impressed in every step of his career so far, earning chance after chance in Spain due to his fine play in youth tournaments, and it's hoped that he will be able to take that form into international competition at the senior level. He certainly has the skill, but does he have the know-how to be able to produce the way he's needed at this level yet?

Team Form

Qatar have three losses, one draw, and one win in their last five qualifiers.  They lost 0-1 at home to Iran on Thursday to see them to last place in the group.

Expected Line-up: 3-5-2

Qatar likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Al-Sheeb

  • Defenders:Majid, Miguel, Isa

  • Midfielders:Boudiaf, Junior, Tabata, Afif, Al-Haydos

  • Striker:Khoukhi, Soria

Qatar still are working on a plan that will see them become competitive in time for 2022, so this was never going to be an make or break moment for them. Their manager, though, could be managing for his very job. In order for them to see results, they need to test themselves in matches like these. Uzbekistan has been growing in stature over the last few years, and they are well within reach of at least a playoff place at the moment. They really should be firming that up to make sure they get one step closer to Russia.
2022- what Qatar will be working toward as they are just about out of the running for a chance to go to Russia. With a loss here, Uzbekistan will likely join them in looking forward to next time.
