Serbia vs Morocco Betting Tips and Odds

Serbia's World Cup qualifying excursion took place in Group D of UEFA. They came through that in the end with a total of 21 points from their ten games, good enough to be two points clear at the final reckoning. They only lost once match in that span, showing that they were the side deserving to move on at the end of the day. Morocco had a very similar story in Group C of CAF qualifying. They were given a tough group along with Gabon and Ivory Coast, a perennial in the tournament, yet they were never truly threatened. They did not give up a single goal in six matches, and they took 12 points without losing. They won three and drew three, showing that they know how to get themselves over the line.

In the last year, Serbia have taken to the pitch eight times. Six of those matches were in qualifying, with only the last two not being qualifiers. They collected five wins, two draws, and a loss in that time. The loss was away to Austria, but they were able to take a nice draw away in South Korea last time out. Morocco have played a lot more in the past year than their opponents here. They have played 17 times in total. 12 wins, three draws, and two losses have come down the pipeline for them, with one of the losses being to the the Netherlands (by one) and a loss also coming to Cameroon. They have won eight of their last nine, so they are on a strong run of form.

Serbia vs Morocco Prediction

Morocco will head to Russia without getting much of the respect that they deserve, but that will likely suit them just fine.  Another decent result here would still see them flying under the radar, a place they might just prefer.

Correct Score Prediction: Serbia 1-1 Morocco

Team News

Mladen Krstajic will be taking part in his first official match as the permanent manager now, and he will have virtually the same team available to him that took part back in November against South Korea. The two men that were in the starting lineup that day that are not in the side now are defender Jagos Vukovic and midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, the latter due to an injury.

Key Man

The one thing that has to be said about the Serbians is that they have a great midfield. They have a number of options in there, and they will be something to really deal with come the summer, but they still need to address their issues up front.  Striker Aleksandr Mitrovic, now at Fulham, remains there top choice. The 23 year old has 11 goals in 33 caps so far, and he needs to be their go-to guy if they are to make a dent like they are capable of in Russia.

Team Form

Serbia have a draw, three wins, and a loss in their last five matches:

1-1 draw at South Korea (Friendly)
0-2 win at China (Friendly)
1-0 home win vs Georgia
3-2 loss at Austria
0-1 win at Ireland

Serbia Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-1-4-1

Team News

Herve Renard has every single starter from their win over Ivory Coast in the last qualifier back in November in this team. It includes a number of very dangerous options in attack, including Hakim Ziyech as well as great defenders like Hakimi of Real Madrid and Mehdi Benatia as well. No one with more than 20 caps has been left out of the team, so they are really just about at full strength.

Key Man

Morocco have real class and quality all along the team, even among those on the bench most of the time. It's a real competition for spots, so it is imperative that each man takes his chance when it comes. Ajax man Hakim Ziyech is one of those, and he is keeping the likes of Southampton man Sofiane Boufal out of the team right now. He's scored seven times in just 13 showings thus far, and he'll look for more now.

Team Form

Morocco have four wins and a draw in their last five matches:

4-0 win vs Nigeria (ANC)
3-1 extra time win vs Libya (ANC)
2-0 home win vs Namibia (ANC)
0-0 draw vs Sudan (ANC)
3-1 win vs Guinea (ANC)

Morocco Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-3-3

On paper this match looks like it could be one-sided. The European sides are still, on the whole, way more developed than the rest of the world, but this Morocco side are on a serious roll and must be taken as a very real threat. If the Serbians don't do that, they could find themselves on the end of a drubbing. A draw looks a distinct possibility.
Morocco have not been beaten in any of their last 13 fixtures in all competitions.
