Reading vs Derby County Betting Tips

With Reading in such poor form, this is a big chance for Gary Rowett's Derby to bounce back to winning ways after a sticky run of results lately.

The Rams are still very much in promotion contention, but they need to start winning again soon to build up some momentum.
Reading scored four past Derby in the reverse fixture at Pride Park, on a rare good day for the Royals in what has been a disappointing campaign - particularly on the back of last season and reaching the play-off final.

But Derby are well equipped to exact their revenge - with Rams' striker Chris Martin ineligible to play against his parent club, Reading are short on striking options (Yann Kermorgant has found goals hard to come by on his return from a lengthy injury lay-off this season).

By contrast Matej Vydra has been banging them in for Derby, and will hope for more goalscoring success against a second-choice Reading central defensive pairing on Saturday.

Reading vs Derby County Recommended bets with odds

The visitors are favourites for Saturday's game, and you can get 13/10 on a Derby win with William Hill.

Given both teams have scored in each of the last two games between these two sides - which have finished 4-2 and 3-2 - it is surprising to see you can get a best price of 19/20 on both teams to score with Ladbrokes and William Hill.

A Derby win and BTTS will return 4/1 with Bet365, William Hill and Ladbrokes.

Matej Vydra is Derby's top scorer this season, but you can still back him to score at any time against Reading on Saturday at 9/5 with Betfair.

Reading vs Derby County Prediction

Reading are in poor form at home and, while Derby themselves have hit a sticky patch, it is the visitors who look the better equipped to get back to winning ways.

Correct Score Prediction: Reading 1-2 Derby

Team News

Chris Martin is ineligible to face his parent club, which is likely to mean Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and Yann Kermorgant partnering each other up front. Paul McShane and loan signing Tommy Elphick are injured, but Omar Richards is fit again, and midfielder John Swift also expected to return to the squad.

Key Players

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson remains Reading’s top scorer this season with eight goals in 25 games. In the reverse fixture, Leandro Bacuna was a key figure patrolling in front of the defence, while Sone Aluko and Modou Barrow were among the goalscorers for Reading that day.

Team Form

Reading have won just two of their last 15 games in all competitions, and only once in the league - a 3-1 win at Burton at the end of January. Since then, they have lost 2-0 at home to Millwall and 2-1 at Reading, before Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest - Omar Richards scoring Reading’s goal.

Reading Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-3-3

Team News

Sam Winnall is out for the season after tearing his ACL. Joe Ledley, Ikechi Anya and Bradley Johnson have all returned recently, however.

Key Players

Matej Vydra leads the way for Derby this season with 18 goals in 31 appearances. Welsh international Tom Lawrence has grabbed seven assists, meanwhile

Team Form

Derby have won just one of their last six matches - a 3-0 win at home to Brentford at the start of February - and are without a win in three games since then. Draws with Norwich and Leeds - Kasey Palmer grabbing a last-minute equaliser for the Rams in the latter on Wednesday night - sandwiched a 2-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

Derby County Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-2-3-1

Derby County have a big chance to get back to winning ways when they travel to Reading on Saturday. Despite conceding four goals in the reverse fixture, Derby are in the much better shape now. The Royals have only won three home games all season, and are there for the taking on Saturday.
Reading have won just three of their 15 league games at the Madejski Stadium so far this season.
