Our Prediction Tip

Draw will win this match.

Monaco hold the edge in games between the two, having won 12 of the last 35 matches between the two, and drawn 14. None of those victories have come in cup matches, however, with PSG beating them four times in that time – including that 4-1 win in the League Cup Final on April 1. The last time they met in Paris was a 1-1 draw in January. Here are the results of the last five matches:

Apr 01, 2017: Monaco 1-4 Paris Saint-Germain
Jan 29, 2017: Paris Saint-Germain 1-1 Monaco
Aug 28, 2016: Monaco 3-1 Paris Saint-Germain
Mar 20, 2016: Paris Saint-Germain 0-2 Monaco
Aug 30, 2015: Monaco 0-3 Paris Saint-Germain

Paris SG vs Monaco Prediction

Monaco have a point to prove after their League Cup Final defeat at the start of the month, but it’s going to be tough to get anything out of the game in Paris. Nevertheless, with their strikers in supreme form this year, expect plenty of goals.

Correct Score Prediction: Paris Saint-Germain 2-2 Monaco

Paris SG vs Monaco Betting Tips and Odds

Paris Saint-Germain’s home advantage, and League Cup Final win, gives them the upper hand according to the bookmakers, with Betfair offering 1/3 on a PSG win. Monaco are as high as 8/1 with Betfair and Ladbrokes, while the draw is 9/2 with Bet365, William Hill and Ladbrokes.

Both teams to score has been set at 4/6 for yes and 11/10 for no (Bet365).

Reason: Monaco have the upper hand in the league, but that may play into PSG’s hands - particularly with Monaco keeping one eye on Champions League fixtures too. Add in PSG’s home advantage and you can see why the bookmakers are leaning towards Unai Emery’s team.

Team News

Midfielder Adrien Rabiot missed the weekend win at home to Montpellier through injury and is doubtful for the game against Monaco, while Layvin Kurzawa - who started at left-back in the League Cup Final - is also unavailable. Those two players aside, PSG could pick the same team which beat Monaco in the League Cup, with Blaise Matuidi and Maxwell replacing the injured duo. Unai Emery’s biggest question will be whether to select Javier Pastore or Julian Draxler on the left of the front three.

Key Man

Edinson Cavani grabbed the opening goal in PSG’s win against Montpellier to take his tally to 43 for the season and six in his last five matches.

Team Form

Paris Saint-Germain have now won eight consecutive games since their stunning 6-1 Champions League defeat at Barcelona in March. That run includes the 4-1 win against Monaco in the Coupe de la Ligue final and, most recently, a 2-0 win at home to Montpellier.

Expected Line-up: 4-3-3

Paris Saint-Germain likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Trapp

  • Defenders:Aurier, Thiago Silva, Kimpembe, Maxwell

  • Midfielders:Verratti, Motta, Matuidi

  • Forwards:Di Maria, Cavani, Draxler

Team News

Right-back Djibril Sidibe is sidelined with appendicitis, while Gabriel Boschilia and Guido Carrillo are also long-term absentees. Monaco rotated their squad against Lyon, and Benjamin Mendy, Almamy Toure and Valere Germain could all return on Wednesday.

Key Man

Resurgent Radamel Falcao is Monaco’s top scorer, but it’s teenage superstar Kylian Mbappe making the headlines with 23 goals and 11 assists this season.

Team Form

Monaco have bounced back from their League Cup defeat against PSG by winning all six games since. In fact, that defeat is their only loss in 13 matches in all competitions. Most recently, Monaco booked their place in the Champions League semi-finals with a 6-3 aggregate win against Borussia Dortmund, while they remain top of the league after a 2-1 win at Lyon at the weekend.

Expected Line-up: 4-4-2

Monaco likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Subasic

  • Defenders:Toure, Glik, Jemerson, Mendy

  • Midfielders:Bernardo Silva, Fabinho, Bakayoko, Germain

  • Forwards:Falcao, Mbappe

While league leaders Monaco hold the upper hand in Ligue 1, PSG demolished Leonardo Jardim’s team when they met in the League Cup Final at the start of the month. Clearly the league and Champions League are bigger priorities for Monaco, but a treble is still within reach and you simply can’t write them off. This is too close to call, and may be decided on penalties.
Paris Saint-Germain are bidding for a third consecutive Coupe de France victory, and are therefore unbeaten in the competition since January 2014.
