Reason: The bookmakers are leaning toward Monaco here due to their advantage in the head to head and because of their position in the table.  They will also be well-rested for this match, so that has to play a factor in it.  Monaco's great home record is also a massive factor in these odds.

Team News

Leonardo Jardim has made his priorities well known.  He is prioritizing Ligue 1 and then the Champions League, so that is why he decided to rest players for Wednesday's match against PSG.  For this match, he will be without right back Djibril Sidibe, striker Guido Carrillo, and left winger Gabriel Boschilia due to injuries.

Key Man

The season of Kylian Mbappe is only getting better and better.  The 18 year old phenom has seen a ridiculous price tag slapped on him as a result of his exploits.  In limited outings, due to the smart rotation by Jardim, Mbappe has scored 13 times in Ligue 1 and assisted eight times.  He's also been exceptional in the Champions League, scoring in all four knockout matches that he's played in thus far.  The kid is very hard to stop, and he can score any kind of goal that he wants.  Look out, Toulouse!

Team Form

AS Monaco have in their last five matches in all competitions.  They won 2-3 at Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the Champions League and then returned to Ligue 1 play to defeat Dijon 2-1 at home.  From there, they sealed progression in the Champions League with a 3-1 home victory over Dortmund before traveling to Lyon in Ligue 1 and getting a big 1-2 victory.  On Wednesday, they went to PSG with a much-rotated squad in the Coupe de France semi-finals, and they lost very badly 5-0.

Expected Line-up: 4-4-2

AS Monaco likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Subasic

  • Defenders:Dirar, Jemerson, Glik, Raggi

  • Midfielders:Bakayoko, Fabinho, Silva, Lemar

  • Forwards:Mbappe, Falcao

Team News

Pascal Dupraz's side have the chance to throw the title race into the air on Saturday.  For this match, he will be without right back Clement Michelin, center back Dusan Veskovac, and center midfielder Jean Akpa Akpro due to injuries for this match.

Key Man

25 year old Danish captain Martin Braithwaite has seen himself turned into a winger quite often this season, and that is where he lined up for his side as they took a very credible point from Nice on Sunday.  Braithwaite has scored ten league goals to lead his side in that category, but he has also found three assists as well.  He is really looking to make a name for himself, and if he can make a big impact here he could see himself set up to join a bigger club.  He has the potential to make this tricky for Monaco, especially if his Toulouse side can be the ones to counterattack.

Team Form

Toulouse have three draws, a loss, and a win in their last five matches in all competitions.  They drew 0-0 at home with Rennes last month before starting this month with a 0-1 away victory to Montepellier.  A 0-0 draw at home to Marseille followed, then they lost 2-1 away to Guingamp before drawing 1-1 at home with one-time title contenders Nice on Sunday.

Expected Line-up: 4-3-3

Toulouse likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Lafont

  • Defenders:Amian, Julien, Diop, Moubandje

  • Midfielders:Bodiger, Blin, Trejo

  • Forwards:Jean, Braithwaite, Delort

AS Monaco have lost just three times this season in the league. One of those encounters was against this very Toulouse side. But that was a long time ago, and it was away from home. Now, they are in a real groove and have completely found their footing as a side. They are scoring goals for fun, and it is very difficult to see how Toulouse are going to keep that from happening in this match. Toulouse are your classic mid-table side at this juncture of the season. With 42 points, they aren't going up much further or down, either. So, their motivation will be questioned. That's not good when you come up against such a young, attacking side as Monaco. Monaco should sweep them aside relatively easily.
Toulouse's goal scoring has been very average this season. In 34 matches, they have 35 goals. AS Monaco have more away goals (38) and home goals (54) separately than their visitors in this match, showing the capabilities of both sides.
