Real Madrid

Our Prediction Tip

Real Madrid will win this match.

These sides have played just five times before, and there has yet to be a win for Manchester City.  They do, though, have two draws.  Here's a closer look:

May 4, 2016: Real 1-0 City (Champions LLeague Semi-final)
Jul 24, 2015: City 1-4 Real (ICC)
Nov 21, 2012: City 1-1 Real (Champions League Group)
Sep 18, 2012: Real 3-2 City (Champions League Group)

Man City vs Real Madrid Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Manchester City are at 13/5 to win, a draw is at 11/4, and a Real Madrid win is at 10/11.

The odds here look good for City, but we believe it would be a mistake to go with the Citizens here in this match.  For whatever reason, they have been putrid in their ICC attempts in the past, having only won one match.

And facing Real Madrid anytime is bound to be difficult for them.  Because of all of this and their brand new defence, we can't see Los Blancos losing here.

We actually like Real to hold them to a clean sheet here, so a Real win and a clean sheet could bring you 10/3 odds, which look a lot better than 10/11!

Man City vs Real Madrid Prediction

Real Madrid will pick up the win here as City continue to seek a solution to defensive lapses and woes.

Correct Score Prediction: Manchester City 0-2 Real Madrid

Team News

Pep Guardiola has called in surprise duo Samir Nasri and Eliaquim Mangala, both of whom were expected to be on the outs.  Iheanacho and Fernando, though, have not been included ahead of presumptive moves.  Also not traveling are goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and winger Bernardo Silva after their exertions in the Confederations Cup earlier this summer.

Key Man

Gabriel Jesus is back, and he will be hoping to build up the necessary fitness and confidence that will be needed for a full season on the pitch.  The young Brazilian striker is great at finding pockets of space, and that could be big in a preseason match where many are not in good shape yet.

Team Form

Manchester City have a loss and four wins in their last five matches.  They won 5-0 at home to Crystal Palace before winning there 2-1 over Leicester and 3-1 over West Brom.  They finished their season with a 0-5 away win at Watford.  On Thursday, they lost in the ICC against rivals Manchester United 2-0.

Manchester City Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-2-3-1

Manchester City likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Ederson

  • Defenders:Walker, Kompany, Stones, Kolarov

  • Defensive Midfielders:Fernandinho, Toure

  • Attacking Midfielders:Sterling, De Bruyne, Silva

  • Forwards:Jesus

Team News

Zinedine Zidane has a number of players that will miss out here.  Danilo has left for opponents Manchester City, while Ronaldo, Llorente, Vallejo, and Asenjo all are missing out due to their participation in summer tournaments.  Sergio Ramos has been given extra time off, and James Rodriguez has been sold off in the close season.

Key Man

New signing Theo Hernandez will be a man on a mission to prove his move from Atletico to Real wasn't a bad one for.  Hernandez, an excellent attacking full back, earned a penalty for his side against United, and he could do some major damage against what is usually a shaky City back line.

Team Form

Real Madrid have a draw and four wins in their last five matches.  They won 4-1 at home over Sevilla before recording an away win over Celta Vigo by the same score.  They finished their league season and clinched the title with a 0-2 win at Malaga on the final day before winning the Champions League Final 1-4 against Juventus.  In their first match of the summer in the ICC, they lost on penalties after a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

Real Madrid Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-3-3

Real Madrid likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Navas

  • Defenders:Carvajal, Varane, Nacho, Theo

  • Midfielders:Kroos, Kovacic, Modric

  • Forwards:Benzema, Bale, Vasquez

It\'s been a summer of big changes at City, especially in the back. They\'ve bought three full backs for huge money, and it\'s going to be extremely interesting to see how they push on with them. Will it change the team that much? We\'ll certainly see. They will need to get up to speed quick, which is one reason friendlies are played. We just don\'t see them getting on the same page quick enough to threaten Real Madrid in this one.
Manchester City have never beaten Real Madrid, and they will hope that they can do it in this friendly to break that duck.
