In World Cup qualification, Malta were one of the worst sides in all of Europe. They only took one single point from their ten matches, finishing bottom of Group F by five whole points. Only minnows San Marino, Liechtenstein, and Gibraltar picked up less. As for Luxembourg, they were impressive in their campaign. They were able to finish fifth in a tough Group A along with France, Sweden, and the Netherlands by picking up six points from their fixtures. This has breathed a lot of confidence into them, and it should do them well for the Nations League coming up.
Overall in the last year, Malta's record has included one win (the one over Ukraine), a draw, and six losses in eight outings.
