Hibernian vs Raith Prediction

With previous results going the way they have and the desire of Raith compared to that of Hibs, it looks likely that Raith will take a point away from this encounter.

Correct Score Prediction: Hibernian 1-1 Raith Rovers

Hibernian vs Raith Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Hibernian are at 2/7 to win, a draw is at 9/2, and a Raith win is at 13/2.

A draw or a win could get you 5/2 odds if you believe Raith can pull it off via the double chance.

Both teams to score has been set at 13/8 for yes and 4/9 for no.

A 1-0 win for Hibs at full time could bring 9/1 odds if correct.

Reason: The bookmakers believe that Hibs are the favorites here despite the recent history because of their positioning in the table.  They are at the top of the table, and Raith are down toward the bottom.  This shouldn't be the kind of match that Hibs drop points in, but you just never know given their record against each other.

Team News

Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon looks set to have a full squad available for him to choose here after their tough loss on Saturday.  They looked to have at least gotten it into extra time, but the own goal came calling for them and ruined their plans of a potential final.

Key Man

Jason Cummings, a 21 year old Scottish striker, has shown himself to be quite the talent this season for Hibs.  Don't be surprised if there's some interest in him from the bigger sides in Scotland if he can convert some of this form in the Premiership next season.  The youngster has impressed by scoring 17 goals and providing five assists in just 29 matches.  This is an impressive total for anyone that age, no matter the league in which they play.  If Raith are to get another result against Hibs, they will have to do their best to stop this young man.

Team Form

Hibernian have one loss, one win, and three draws in their last five matches in all competitions.  Three straight draws in the Scottish Championship took place as they drew 0-0 at home to Morton in late March, 1-1 at Dunfermline to start April, and then 1-1 at Morton the next week.  They got back to winning ways with a 3-0 win at home over Queen of the South before losing at home 2-3 to Premiership side Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup semi-finals on Saturday thanks to a late own goal.  After starting in a 4-2-3-1 against their Premiership opponents, expect them to go back to their usual 4-4-2 for this match.

Expected Line-up: 4-4-2

Hibernian likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Marciano

  • Defenders:Gray, McGregor, Ambrose, Stevenson

  • Midfielders:McGeouch, Fyvie, Shinnie, McGinn

  • Forwards:Holt, Cummings

Team News

John Hughes will be without center midfielder Ross Callachan due to a broken arm.  Elsewhere, he looks set after the 2-0 win over Morton.  He used a 4-2-3-1 there, and there is little sense in him changing it now after they picked up some momentum with the win.

Key Man

Raith Rovers haven't scored a ton of goals this season, but they do have a man that can get them goals.  Leading goal scorer Ryan Hardie is that man.  The on-loan Rangers man is just 20 years old and has only joined the club back in January.  Since that time, he has scored five goals in 15 matches for his loan side. The young Scot has the chance to forever be a Raith Rovers legend if he can help take down Hibernian and confirm their place in the Championship for yet another season on Wednesday.

Team Form

Raith Rovers have two wins, two losses, and a draw in their last five matches.  They won 2-1 at home to both Dundee United and then drew 1-1 there to Queen of the South.  1-0 losses away to Falkirk and Dunfermline were then followed by a 2-0 win on Saturday at home to Morton.

Expected Line-up: 4-2-3-1

Raith Rovers likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Penska

  • Defenders:Thomson, Barr, M'voto, McHattie

  • Defensive Midfielders:Matthews, Davidson

  • Attacking Midfielders:Skacel, Handling, Johnston

  • Forwards:Hardie

Raith Rovers are in eighth place in the ten team league, and they find themselves above the relegation zone by just one point at the moment. The sides below them have just two matches left to play, so they do have an extra match here. But it\'s against the champions. However, they have a very reasonable record against Hibs, and they know that Hibs will just about have their foot off the gas just a little. That might be just enough to see them get a result from this tough away trip here.
These two sides have drawn all three of their meetings this season in the league. The last time either side eked out a win was in the playoffs at the end of last season. Will history repeat itself here or will Raith go down swinging with just three matches left to play?
