Our Prediction Tip

Germany will win this match.

Germany might be strong favourites, but they have been beaten twice in their last three meetings with Czech Republic. The most recent meetings between the sides took place in 2007, when Libor Sionko, Marek Matejovsky and Jaroslav Plasil were on target in a 3-0 for the Czechs during qualifying for Euro 2008.

Czech Republic also came out on top when they played Germany in Group D of Euro 2004, when goals from Marek Heinz and Milan Baros earned a famous 2-1 win.

Germany v Czech Republic: Prediction

On paper this should be a fairly straightforward victory for Germany, who always seem to get the job done during qualifying campaigns for major international tournaments. But Czech Republic's two wins in the last three meetings between the sides might give them an edge, although it is still hard to see how they could cause an upset against such a strong squad.

Germany v Czech Republic: Betting Tips

Odds of 1/4 on a Germany win reflect the fact they are very strong at home, where they have not lost a World Cup qualifier since their 5-1 humbling at the hands of England way back in 2001. Czech Republic can be backed at 14/1 to win, while the draw is at 6/1 and it might be tempting to take the 7/2 on offer for the Czechs to avoid defeat in this match.

Germany should still come out on top, but Low's men to win with both teams to score at a price of 21/10 could be one of the best bets on offer for this match and is certainly recommended in our Germany v Czech Republic betting tips.

Germany will not be expected to have any problems qualifying for the World Cup in 2018 and they are big favourites for both this match and to top Group C. Coach Joachim Low has one of the strongest squads in world football at his disposal and the only obvious weakness is in attack, where only two players are listed in their squad, Mario Gotze and Kevin Volland, both of whom are more effective in deeper roles.

Bayern Munich's Thomas Muller is a major goal threat, however, while young players like Joshua Kimmich and Julian Brandt are the future of the team.

Germany likely XI:

  • Goalkeeper:- Neuer

  • Defenders:- Kimmich, Boateng, Hummels, Hector

  • Midfielders:- Khedira, Kroos, Muller, Ozil, Gundogan

  • Forwards:- Gotze

A 0-0 draw at home to Northern Ireland was not the ideal way for Czech Republic to get under way in Group C, with coach Karel Jarolim needing to add more goal threat to his team.

Matej Vydra could get a chance in attack as a result, while midfielder Vladimir Darida, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in the past, is certainly one to watch out for as well.

Czech Republic likely XI:

  • Goalkeeper:- Cech

  • Defenders:- Kaderabek, Suchy, Kadlec, Novak

  • Midfielders:- Skalak, Darida, Pavelka, Krejci

  • Forwards:- Vydra, Skoda

Germany won 3-0 in Norway to get their qualifying campaign off to a good start and they will be expected to maintain their 100 per cent record in Group F here. Czech Republic can be awkward opponents though and they will make it tough for Germany, so perhaps a narrow home win is just about the most likely result.
Czech Republic have two of their last three matches against Germany.
