Our Prediction Tip

Germany will win this match.

Germany and Cameroon have met three times in international matches, drawing their most recent friendly 2-2 in 2014. Prior to that, Germany had won both previous meetings - a 3-0 friendly win in 2004 following a 2-0 victory at the 2002 World Cup.

Germany vs Cameroon Betting Tips

Germany will be confident of progressing to the semi-finals after coming through their trickiest encounter with a draw against Chile. They only need to avoid defeat to do so, but have played an expansive attacking system so far and are likely to repeat that.

Lars Stindl and Sandro Wagner are in decent form in front of goal, and both could add to their goalscoring starts to international life against Cameroon.

Cameroon, meanwhile, were always outsiders to qualify from the group and even more so now after failing to win their first two games.
Cameroon have struggled in front of goal in recent games, and with the game against Germany likely to require a more defensive outlook, their goalscoring woes could well continue.

Realistically, Germany should be beating Cameroon - even with an inexperienced squad - and with their strikers in good form in front of goal may even be able to leapfrog Chile at the top of Group B if they can improve their goal difference sufficiently.

Germany vs Cameroon Recommended bets with odds

Germany are unsurprisingly big favourites to beat Cameroon, and the odds reflect that, but you can back them at 2/5 with Bet365 and Betfair - the best price on a Cameroon win is 8/1.

Having scored in both games so far, the odds on Lars Stindl getting the first goal against Cameroon are a generous 4/1 with Bet365 - with strike partner Sandro Wagner available to back at the same price.

Both Bet365 and Ladbrokes are offering 21/20 on both strikers to score at any time, meanwhile, and with both in good form they will be keen to add to their international goals tallies.

Realistically, if Germany want to top Group B they will have to match Chile's result from the first game at the very least - the Chileans won 2-0, and Germany are 13/2 with Bet365, Ladbrokes and William Hill to win by the same scoreline.

With Cameroon in poor form in front of goal, a Germany win by any score to nil is 11/8 with William Hill.

Germany vs Cameroon Prediction

Germany need a good win if they want to top Group B, but their strikers are in good form and Cameroon's aren't - a good omen for Joachim Loew's side. Depending on Chile's result against Australia, even a 3-0 win might not be enough to top Group B, but it is well within Germany's capability.

Correct score prediction: Germany 3-0 Cameroon

Team News

Germany reverted to a slightly more defensive formation for the game against Chile, with Sandro Wagner replaced by Emre Can one of three changes made for that game. They may revert to two up front again against Cameroon, however, with both Wagner and Lars Stindl in good form.

Key Players

Lars Stindl has scored in both Confederations Cup matches so far - his first two international goals - while Sandro Wagner has three in three games for Germany. Further back, captain Julian Draxler is one of few experienced faces in the Germany squad.

Team Form

Germany continued their unbeaten record since Euro 2016 when they drew against Chile on Thursday. The Germans have now gone 12 games without a defeat. That 1-1 draw followed the 3-2 win against Australia in their opening game, having warmed up for the tournament with a 7-0 thrashing of San Marino in a World Cup qualifier.

Germany Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 3-3-2-2

Germany likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Ter Stegen

  • Defenders:Kimmich, Mustafi, Sule

  • Midfielders:Can, Rudy, Hector

  • Attacking Midfielders:Goretzka, Draxler

  • Forwards:Wagner, Stindl

Team News

Cameroon have stuck with the same starting XI for their first two games, and have only used 14 of their 23 players so far. Both in their 2-0 defeat to Chile and 1-1 draw with Australia, the Lions opted for a 4-3-3 formation, but they may look for defensive reinforcements against an expansive Germany team.

Key Players

Captain Benjamin Moukandjo is likely to drop into a deeper position to play against Germany, and his performance will be integral to Cameroon's slim hopes of getting something from the game. That will leave Vincent Aboubakar to lead the line up front, looking to add to his 17 international goals.

Team Form

Cameroon's 1-1 draw with Australia on Thursday followed a run of just one win in four games - a 1-0 defeat of Morocco that was followed by a 4-0 thrashing by Colombia and the 2-0 loss in the opening Group B game against Chile.

Cameroon Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-2-3-1

Cameroon likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Ondoa

  • Defenders:Mabouka, Ngadeu-Ngadjui, Teikeu, Fai

  • Midfielders:Djoum, Siani

  • Attacking Midfielders:Bassogog, Moukandjo, Anguissa

  • Forwards:Aboubakar

Germany sent an inexperienced team to Russia for the Confederations Cup, but after beating Australia and drawing with Chile they are well on course for a semi-final place. Inexperienced does not necessarily mean weak when it comes to international football, and the likes of Lars Stindl - who has scored in both games so far - has taken the opportunity to show Joachim Loew what he is capable of. Loew will be confident of a win, and with it a place in the semi-finals.
Germany are unbeaten in their last 12 international matches, having not lost since their Euro 2016 exit at the hands of hosts France.
