Given that they are perennial frontrunners in the Ukrainian Premier Division, we might have expected Dynamo’s home form to be better than this: they have won just one of their last five on their own patch, with three defeats.
That makes their task of defeating an excellent Benfica side all the more difficult; especially since their home record in Champions League matches alone reads W3 D3 L4.
The visitors are on much sturdier ground having won eight of their last twelve matches, and this season on the road they are W5 D1 L1 – that sole defeat coming against a classy Napoli outfit. In the past calendar year or so the Portuguese outfit have won at both Atletico Madrid and Zenit St Petersburg; two very difficult trips.
If we were betting with ‘make believe’ money we would predict a Benfica win here, but our cautious side wins out and as such the draw is perhaps the most viable outcome in this match.
The draw is an obvious temptation at 12/5, and it depends on what kind of bettor you are as to whether that is your main bet here or not. For those of a more cautious nature, the Benfica Draw No Bet at 11/10 is an excellent option.
Benfica have conceded in all of their last six away Champions League matches, scoring in five of those. Kiev, meanwhile, have scored/conceded in 4/6, and so Both Teams to Score is a worthy investment at 19/20.
Both of these teams have one point following their opening pair of Champions League matches, and so they will know that getting the upper hand on their opponents in this double-header of fixtures is the best possible way for them to achieve progression to the last 16. Dynamo, with home advantage and on an unbeaten run of five, will fancy their chances here.

Benfica, having suffered just one defeat in their last 12 outings, would presumably be happy with a point in Kiev before winning the return fixture on home soil. That sounds like a plan for success, and there’s no reason why they can’t achieve it here.
