Our Prediction Tip

Coventry City will win this match.

Coventry and Exeter have played each other just three times before, and two of those meetings have came this season.  The home side won the matches during the season, with Exeter winning 1-0 at home in January and Coventry winning their home match 2-0 in September. The other game played out between them was in the 2014/15 edition of the EFL Trophy, and Coventry won 3-1 at home.

Coventry vs Exeter City Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have the following odds available for this match:

Coventry are at 6/5 to win, a draw is at 9/4, and an Exeter win is at 23/10.

The League Two Playoff Final will differ from the two others in that this will not include the top two sides that did not get promoted.  Sure, it will include Exeter, who finished in fourth place, but it will also include the sixth place Coventry City. This is Exeter ended up with 80 points, enough to surpass their opponents here by five points.  But they do differ greatly.  Coventry just came down from League One, where they had been there or higher for quite a while.  Exeter, though, have rarely crossed paths with them due to being in this division or lower.  So it's an interesting dichotomy between these two.  The side that is better on paper might just be the underdogs due to the fact that Coventry have been in all sorts of tough situations recently and in bigger leagues.

McNulty to score first is at 7/2 via Ladbrokes.

Coventry vs Exeter City Prediction

Exeter did end up finishing a couple of spots and five points higher than Coventry in the regular season, but Coventry have a lot to them and just came from League One. That could benefit them greatly.

Correct Score Prediction: Coventry City 0-1 Exeter City

Team News

Mark Robins doesn't have a ton of issues, but he will be missing one man in the form of winger Jodi Jones, who has been out with a knee injury since November.  That means he can play the same side that rolled in victory at Notts County in their last match.

Key Man

Coventry have been in great from recently, netting two wins and two draws, and when they have won they have done it in a big way by scoring ten goals across those games.  It's no wonder why due to the play of star striker Mark McNulty. The Scot has scored an incredible 25 goals in the League Two season, and he has continued that form in the playoffs as well.  He scored a penalty in the first leg against Notts County and also scored and assisted for fellow striker Maxime Biamou in the second.

Team Form

Coventry have two wins, two draws, and a loss in their last five matches:

1-4 win at Notts County (Playoffs)
1-1 home draw vs Notts County (Playoffs)
0-0 home draw vs Morecambe
1-6 win at Cheltenham Town
2-4 home loss vs Lincoln City

Coventry City Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-4-2

Team News

Paul Tisdale will be set for this huge opportunity to get to the next division as he has no injuries or suspensions to deal with in his team selection.  This will free him up to play the same team that played so well at home to Lincoln City last time out.

Key Man

There are a few players in this Exeter City side that can do some real damage in attack, but the one that should be watched very closely here is left midfielder Ryan Harley.  In addition to having scored the third goal, which basically clinched their spot at Wembley, over Lincoln, he also scored the winner against this very same opponent when they last met back in January.  Of course, 20 goal man Jayden Stockley is always one to keep an eye on.

Team Form

Exeter have two wins, two draws, and a loss in their last five matches:

3-1 home win vs Lincoln City (Playoffs)
0-0 draw at Lincoln City (Playoffs)
1-0 home win vs Colchester
3-1 loss at Stevenage
2-2 home draw vs Crawley Town

Exeter City Predicted Starting Line-up

Expected Line-up: 4-4-2

Coventry had been on a slide in the last couple of years, sliding down into League Two. They were relegated from League One last season, but the Sky Blues have been very strong this term and have now gotten close to getting back there. Due to their experience playing at that level, you have to like their chances to get on over on Exeter City.
Exeter City will be playing in the EFL League Two Playoff Final for the second season in a row.
