Australia vs UAE Prediction

This is the one side that Australia have beaten so far in the group and they are at home in this one, so they should have just enough to win this one.

Correct Score Prediction: Australia 1-0 UAE

Australia vs UAE Betting Tips and Odds

Bet365 have Australia at 4/9 to win, a draw at 10/3, and a UAE win at 7/1.

The double chance odds of a UAE win or draw are at 9/5.

A 1-0 win for the Aussies could bring you 10/1 odds if correct at full time

Reason: Australia are favored here due to their home field advantage.  They are usually very good at home, and UAE are going to have to travel a very long way after a disappointing performance in their last match.  That gives the Aussies the edge.

Team News

Ange Postecoglou chose to use Tim Cahill as a substitute in Tehran, but he might just be forced to start him against the UAE in Sydney on Tuesday.  Robbie Kruse, a regular and a player that's typically depended upon, was taken out early in favor of young winger Brad Smith.  Will this be something that continues or was it just an attempt to win the match?

Key Man

Captain Mile Jedinak, now playing for Aston Villa in the English Championship, needs to get a hold of his team and impress upon them the importance of physicality.  The Aussies were out muscled by their hosts in Tehran, and will need some added motivation as they come up against the UAE.  Jedinak can lay down the marker early with some inspired roughness, but he must be careful not to go too far and leave his side with just ten men.

Team Form

Australia have four draws (consecutively) and one win in their last five qualifiers.  They drew 1-1 against Iraq in Tehran on Thursday.

Expected Line-up: 3-1-4-2

Australia likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Langerak

  • Defenders:Milligan, Degenek, Wright

  • Midfielders:Luongo, Jedinak, Kruse, Leckie, Irvine

  • Striker:Juric, Cahill

Team News

Mahdi Ali will likely keep to his side here as they played fairly well against Japan in their encounter on Thursday.  They had the opportunity to tie the game, in fact, at one point and might be just a little disappointed to not have done so.  But overall, they still have what it takes to cause issues for the Aussies, and a win would definitely set Australia back a great deal.

Key Man

26 year old striker Ali Mabkhout is a man to watch for UAE.  He has been a serial scorer for his club side Al Jazira in Abu Dhabi for years now and played on the Olympic side back in 2012.  Mabkhout has scored some big goals in his time, including a goal and conversion in the subsequent penalty shootout against Japan as well as scoring in the AFC Cup third place match to give UAE the medal.  He can cause problems for the Aussies, and they must keep an eye on him no matter how much of the ball they have.

Team Form

UAE have three losses and two wins so far in the group.  They lost 0-2 at home to Japan on Thursday to dent their chances of qualification.

Expected Line-up: 4-4-2

UAE likely XI

  • Goalkeeper:Elsa

  • Defenders:Hussain, Al Kamali, Salem, Sanquor

  • Midfielders:Abdulrahman, Barman, Esmaeel, Al Hammadi

  • Striker:Matar, Mabkhout

This has the makings of a crazy match here. Australia have failed to produce player in the last ten years, and it\'s starting to really show as they continue to draw upon the stars of yesterday to help them. It\'s almost getting to a point where it\'s just a bridge too far, and they may have to settle for a playoff in the group as a result. The Aussies come in here with a lot of pressure, and it might just cost them as they will also be playing in front of home supporters that may not be very friendly to them if they don\'t start well. The UAE are no slouches, and full concentration is necessary to achieve three points.
0- the number of losses that Australia has in the group. They are the only team in the group to have this record, but they are still three points off the pace of the group leaders and in danger of missing out on qualification entirely if they don\'t improve soon.
